It appears the felt report is coming primarily from folks in the Los Angeles area who are patiently awaiting the next (Possibly Upcoming) Major Los Angeles Earthquake. . . and are very generously taking the time to write out reports about every single time the ground moves there in L.A. The result being that we seem to now constantly get reports along with just about every single Southern California Earthquake coming from Brea, La Habra, Whittier, and etc. But in the case of this particular earthquake or series of them, you might notice the number of felt reports that came from Lake Isabella: 12! Finally, the seriousness of Brand New Tropical Cyclone ITA is growing quickly!!!!! Early Tuesday it was a big windstorm circling the islands just to the northeast of Australia and as of early today it is starting to look a lot more like a huge hurricane with maximum wind gust speeds now predicted to go as high as 135 Knots and Maximum Pressure at 970. T.C. Ita has a few more miles to go yet before landfall at it looks like Queensland, Australia and maybe 48 hours, but looks very much like it might grow fast and the landfall will most likely be the next very big and dangerous one! Tropical Cyclone Ita is actually looking a lot like Severe Tropical Cyclone Yasi that made a very similar landfall in 2011 and came to precede both the Christchurch Earthquake and the big Honshu Japan Earthquake and Tsunami, so watch Ita closely!!!!! EQ Guy

4.7 Richters Strikes 300 Miles South of Paris, France!!! 500 Miles From Algeria!!! More Coming!!!
I was measuring the distances from these towns in the region of this France Earthquake due to it looking kind of big and knowing it was situated up in that region where there is a Major Earthquake heading and hopefully just passing since by now everybody has seen, heard, or read Algiers, Algeria, Morocco, Azores, and Iceland in a number of EQ Blogs, etc., but while I may not have wrote Paris or France. . . it would not be unusual for such an earthquake to strike up in that region, although I do not know what the biggest Paris Earthquake of all time might have been?
This 4.7 also struck 800 miles Northeast of Lisbon, Portugal and 100 miles from Geneva. The thing that was probably the most notable from the perspective of watching that line, is the fact it looks like this earthquake energy might have actually run directly through Morocco and Algeria to get to this epicenter there in the middle of France! I measured about 500 miles from Algeria and the boundary with Morocco is not far from there and I can clearly see Algeria on the map right there in the middle of all the action as I am writing this. Fairly big felt report, but I did not see Paris on there and am not great with my French town names, so I won't bother with the felt report besides saying Paris isn't on the list. Rule I use there is 4.7 might be felt as many miles if you move the decimal point over one space in this case to the right, or 47 miles and Paris was 300 miles. Sort of a new experimental rule that I sort of just made up as I was preparing todays EQ Blog, but might need a little work. Prior to this use of that new "Move the decimal" rule, I had just glanced at the numbers in this case 4.7 and automatically just said 47 or 50 miles without moving the decimal, so you are up to date on that latest calculation I'm using. Didn't work so great earlier today when that 4.0 hit near Oklahoma City, because it was like 30 miles from Oklahoma City so according to my fairly new formula there might not be any felt reports from OKC. . . wrong, there were reports it looked like from just about every Zip Code, although mostly one or two's, so there is still at least some hope for my new numbers theory.
There have also been a number of earthquakes in Mexico at 4.7, 4.5, and 3.2 Enseneda. With the 4.7 being 137 miles West of Guatemala City, and the 4.5 at 327 miles Northwest of Guatemala City. And my notes say Gibraltar is in there somewhere, too!!!
Finally, continue to watch Mozambique because it still seems a bit unusual they do not seem to have gotten anything out of all this, yet, and New Zealand also, although the earthquake energy is going to split that tectonic plate boundary right up the middle on its way up and across the Pacific, it is very possible this will cause some kind of major movement of the islands out in that region too many to go into the list of all. Could be a huge earthquake for New Zealand, though and with a foreshock at Chile of 8.2 this could easily be an 8 Magnitude Earthquake for the New Zealand Neighborhood in the coming days. 3.3 Strikes 15 Miles West of Downtown Portland!!! 423 Felt Reports From Portland!!! ALSO: New EQ V-Log and EQ Podcast!!!

Now the really big story, besides the 5 or 10 earthquakes that struck Oklahoma is the 3.3 that struck very near Downtown Portland with 423 Felt Reports from Portland, 220 from Beaverton 8 miles from the epicenter, 100 from Sherwood the town name given to the earthquake and 5 miles Northwest of the epicenter, and 5 felt reports from Salem the Capital City of Oregon.
You might recall that Mt. Hood, just over 50 miles East of the Sherwood Epicenter had a rather huge swarm that took place there about a week or so ago and that at that time I discussed all of the possible things that could happen next considering all the movement up in that region. Of course Mt. St. Helens would be one of the biggest ones I would worry about, but I seem to recall along the way discussing Portland if for no other reason due to it being about the biggest population center in that region. Salem, Oregon might also become a concern since the West Coast is currently now looking at the traveling 8.2 Richters that has already struck at Iquique, Chile and according to my tracking of the movement of that earthquake energy across the Pacific Tectonic Plate should be heading directly for our West Coast right about now! While an Official Prediction is very much in order, it takes me some time to get it all prepared and so in the meantime please remember Portland/Salem could be very much inline for a Major Earthquake and so folks up in that region could right about now think along the lines of earthquake preparation.
The other places where Major Earthquake Energy could be heading are New Zealand, Mozambique, Algeria, Iceland, Azores, New York, Chicago, Tijuana, and San Fernando Valley/Los Angeles. Apparently The Recent La Habra/Los Angeles Earthquakes Ended With March New Moon Window!!!
I know I mentioned it right there at the end of the New Moon Window coverage earlier in the week, but I just now looked back through it to see what the final numbers on the theory were and came up with some startling information based on this, what I still want to call brand new theory about the New Moon. Up to this point I had taken on Full Moons and even came up with one of my best during Quake Chase 2011, but since 2011 someone mentioned somewhere that if the full moon has that effect, then the new moon would HAVE to also have the same effect apparently due to how moons work or whatever. So at some point along the way I started also carefully tracking the dates of the New Moons and creating my own what I call "New Moon Window" to go along with the already successful "Full Moon Windows". Well, I found the most interesting thing happened at last months New Moon Window up in Virginia City without going into all the details, that huge swarm there ENDED right at the exact moment of the New Moon!!! So, now a quite similar thing just happened AGAIN with the March New Moon!!! I know some of you want to hear more about Bison leaving Yellowstone, so I went back and checked, and the date on the video was March 20, 2014 and so it now seems possible the bison might have been running knowing there was the 4.7 about to strike that actually DID strike over the March 2014 New Moon Window last weekend on around March 29 or 30. Believe me, I understand bison running from an earthquake and it striking during a "New Moon Window" is kind of far from quickly becoming "Accepted Science". . . but the numbers do seem to talk kind of loud, there, and that video is sort of awesome, too! If there was any truth to it, then they were running about 10 days before that big earthquake struck, and it IS being reported as the biggest earthquake to hit Yellowstone in a lot of years, too!

As I was scrolling back through all the earthquakes in the past 24 hours prior to writing todays EQ Blog, I found a discrepancy with the magnitude for the 3.7 Richters Earthquake that struck late yesterday right at press time for that EQ Blog. While it appeared immediately to me that it had been just another earthquake with an "Unknown" number to go along with it due to the size of the earthquake being changed. . . as I often do, I went back to the original message I received on my phone and found the earthquake was originally a 3.7 when I received the message. That is if we are talking about the same earthquake, now? Therefore without going into a lot more indepth research to find out what happened there to those numbers, we will simply move on with me just saying it appears the numbers in yesterdays EQ Blog and elsewhere referencing the Yountville Earthquake might not all agree and I will end by saying it was somewhere in the 3 or 4 Range. 4.7 as listed might not be accurate, but then again you never know these days sometimes.

4.7 Strikes 50 Miles North of San Francisco!!!!! ALSO: Bison Are Actually FLEEING From Yellowstone National Park!!!!!
If it wasn't for the fact that I just so happened to be reading a book called "When Snakes Awake" all about a collection of the facts related to animals being able to know when a BIG EARTHQUAKE is about to happen. . . this might not have otherwise caught my attention. Just today this was reported in one of my regular earthquake publications I read and so I will reprint it either as a link or embeded player @ LOOKS to me like this was surely a sign that Yellowstone would now for sure be the epicenter for probably their next Major Shaker possibly as big as 7 or 8 Richters, however due to noticing a few comments questioning the vid, I am now wondering WHEN it was taken and may have some difficulty pinpointing the exact window when this now possibly upcoming Major Yellowstone Earthquake might strike!!! IF it was accurate they probably are going to be having a Major Earthquake in the coming days.
In a matter that is now probably unrelated to the bison story, there was a 4.7 Richters Earthquake that struck 50 Miles North of San Francisco late on Thursday Night and 7 miles East of a town up that way called Yountville. According to the information I was able to locate regarding yesterdays aftershock at Chile, there do not seem to be any additional injuries or damage, although they did run a tsunami alert that was canceled right away afterwards.
Remember we are still watching for Mozambique, and Algiers Region to shake and I will have more information about how this huge alert could affect the San Fernando Valley or Tijuana Region by next week sometime. . . hopefully nothing major will shake before then, but be prepared there just the same!!! 7.4 Upgraded To 7.8, Then Downgraded To 7.6 Strikes Chile!!! No Tsunami=Final Answer!!! Now Watch L.A.--EQ Guy
First off, I want everybody reading to be aware that this "EQ Blog" is simply the daily ramblings of a former auto-mechanic, who went on to join the Carpenters Union and worked in Los Angeles where I was in a lot of earthquakes. Beyond my apprenticeship with the carpenters and a degree in acting and S.A.G. Card. . . I am not formally educated in fields such as Geology, Seismology, Meteorology, and etc. Disclaimer: You are reading a blog that I write in spare time while not working as actor in TV and Motion Pictures among other occupations I do. I do not represent any of the scientific organizations of which I frequently write about, nor am I member of any of the fraternities associated with those fields. While I have a lot of friends who are educated in those fields and are members of those organizations, I remain a member only of SAG-AFTRA and consider myself through a lot of studies, to be "Amateur Seismologist" at best. Basically just writing out my daily opinions here on how the world of Plate Tectonics is or might be working.
As to why they keep changing, and changing, and changing the apparent magnitude of this Major Aftershock at Chile. . . I can only guess what that's all about. I'm thinking a person somewhere might be tasked with the job of calculating, and re-calculating all of the pertinent information into an ever more accurate and hopefully at some point, exact magnitude and in so doing feels it necessary to CHANGE the numbers in the headline so that it is changing kind of often. In the course of such a huge emergency sort of thing it can be a problem trying to figure out if we are talking about the same earthquake or a new or possibly even a different one and at one point an error was made somewhere along the way, but owing to not always knowing if it was still one, two, or three different earthquakes. . . it takes a lot more time to go back through and double-check the "Time Stamp" to figure out if it was the same earthquake or a different one all together. Up to this point as I am writing I can NOW tell you so far it has simply been numbers being changed around, however, in the event someone actually needed to know or potentially calculate the inherent danger, it could have actually been somewhat hazardous getting constantly changing magnitudes. Of course at some point, I suppose you might also say that UPDATED numbers may also be of some help to others. In reality OCCASIONALLY there actually ARE 3 earthquakes of 7 Magnitude and somebody might need to know exactly WHERE all of the 3 different epicenters were. . . for obvious reasons.
As I am writing this the news seems to be saying there have not been any injuries reported, but the latest magnitude was 7.6 still being just 10 miles from Iquique, I don't see how it could not be a disaster but that is just my own personal calculation based in part on the fact that a search revealed that the Sichuan, China earthquake was also a 7.8 and it seems to me the damage was far more distant from the epicenter than 10 miles. (Again they changed the magnitude so that throws at least ME off, there, too)
It occurred to me that there may NOT have been an actual earthquake that coincided with the plane crash in the Indian Ocean!!! However thinking about it there WILL still be a "Hiccup" on all of the seismographs in that region coinciding with the crash. These hiccups would need to be located by time reference after the last contact or radar reading of the plane AND once found could easily locate almost the EXACT LOCATION of the missing airplane!!! A check would probably reveal there are even one or two seismometers out there in the immediate area where they are searching and it is possible they might also search seismograph readings. Where seismometer is the device that picks up readings, and seismograph is the device that shows those readings such as the drum with the pencil marking the readings. Then the hiccup can be located on all the other seismographs in the region and one can triangulate almost the exact location!!! They would then need to agree on it. . . better than they seem to be agreeing on the magnitude of Wednesday nights aftershock!!!
Los Angeles and San Fernando Valley could be next in line for huge shaker, too!!! Also continue to watch New Zealand and Mozambique!!! Exact towns in Mozambique are Nambunga, Masasi, Kitangari, and Nachingwea. This line also travels up into Lake Tanganyika, Tanzania, Congo, Algeria, and Morocco and then up towards Azores and Iceland. . . . . but it also crosses directly across New York, Chicago, and like Tijuana, Mexico along the way. As to why they keep changing, and changing, and changing the apparent magnitude of this Major Aftershock at Chile. . . I can only guess what that's all about. I'm thinking a person somewhere might be tasked with the job of calculating, and re-calculating all of the pertinent information into an ever more accurate and hopefully at some point, exact magnitude and in so doing feels it necessary to CHANGE the numbers in the headline so that it is changing kind of often. In the course of such a huge emergency sort of thing it can be a problem trying to figure out if we are talking about the same earthquake or a new or possibly even a different one and at one point an error was made somewhere along the way, but owing to not always knowing if it was still one, two, or three different earthquakes. . . it takes a lot more time to go back through and double-check the "Time Stamp" to figure out if it was the same earthquake or a different one all together. Up to this point as I am writing I can NOW tell you so far it has simply been numbers being changed around, however, in the event someone actually needed to know or potentially calculate the inherent danger, it could have actually been somewhat hazardous getting constantly changing magnitudes. Of course at some point, I suppose you might also say that UPDATED numbers may also be of some help to others. In reality OCCASIONALLY there actually ARE 3 earthquakes of 7 Magnitude and somebody might need to know exactly WHERE all of the 3 different epicenters were. . . for obvious reasons.
As I am writing this the news seems to be saying there have not been any injuries reported, but the latest magnitude was 7.6 still being just 10 miles from Iquique, I don't see how it could not be a disaster but that is just my own personal calculation based in part on the fact that a search revealed that the Sichuan, China earthquake was also a 7.8 and it seems to me the damage was far more distant from the epicenter than 10 miles. (Again they changed the magnitude so that throws at least ME off, there, too)
It occurred to me that there may NOT have been an actual earthquake that coincided with the plane crash in the Indian Ocean!!! However thinking about it there WILL still be a "Hiccup" on all of the seismographs in that region coinciding with the crash. These hiccups would need to be located by time reference after the last contact or radar reading of the plane AND once found could easily locate almost the EXACT LOCATION of the missing airplane!!! A check would probably reveal there are even one or two seismometers out there in the immediate area where they are searching and it is possible they might also search seismograph readings. Where seismometer is the device that picks up readings, and seismograph is the device that shows those readings such as the drum with the pencil marking the readings. Then the hiccup can be located on all the other seismographs in the region and one can triangulate almost the exact location!!! They would then need to agree on it. . . better than they seem to be agreeing on the magnitude of Wednesday nights aftershock!!!
Los Angeles and San Fernando Valley could be next in line for huge shaker, too!!! Also continue to watch New Zealand and Mozambique!!! Exact towns in Mozambique are Nambunga, Masasi, Kitangari, and Nachingwea. 7.8 Aftershock Strikes 10 Miles From Iquique, Chile!!!!! WATCH Los Angeles!!!!!
7.8 Richters just struck and most recent update as I am writing this looks like the epicenter was on land, as far as tsunami would then be concerned there should not be the same chances of tsunami stuff, but information has been changing in the last few minutes since first reported.
7.8 will result in an extreme amount of damage to Iquique, Chile so be prepared now to hear very bad reports to come from that region and I'm very sorry for folks in that region!!! Measured just 10 miles to that town from current epicenter as marked on USGS map and at 7.8 Richters. . . . . 10 miles is far too close to that big of earthquake!!!
This is too much earthquake energy happening at too fast of a rate for me to keep up with this EQ Blog, so starting now be watching Los Angeles, because just sayin' this earthquake energy was originallly headed on a straight line for San Fernando Valley and New Zealand. . . . . Chile was just to the east of the line but very shaky so ALL of this Major Earthquake energy could be headed for L.A., but could hit any time or not at all you know! My Official Prediction will still take hours and another day or two to prepare until then think about earthquake preperations! Mostly gas in all the cars, and batteries in all the flashlights and maybe a radio and couple extra bottles of water.

Having now checked all of the other possible sources of this big of earthquake energy and it looks rather convincingly like the landfall of Cat-4 Tropical Cyclone Hellen at Madagascar as of this writing. Not to mention the fact that I had already been tracking this earthquake and the potential movement of the Pacific Tectonic Plate as well. This would have to be the same earthquake energy or one money as they like to say referring to the fact that there are not two games coincidentally being played at the same time, here, rather it more or less has to be all the same earthquake energy.
In which case we will now have to continue watching for A LOT more earthquakes!!! For today let us be aware that this alert, if this is the one here, was originally intended for New Zealand and Los Angeles! The actual line that I tracked across the Pacific ran directly through Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley like as if Northridge was directly inline for this 8.2 Richters Earthquake which a lot of you reading this already know would not be a good thing. BUT, just sayin' it is the one that was heading for the L.A. Region and could still be heading up in that region. There is probably a good scientific explanation for why that VERY SHAKY Offshore Chile place actually got this one, which as I always do, posted Chile because this location HAD already been moving, and moving, and moving. . . and so you might just figure they could get this ultimate one like they did!!!
You might have also seen where I posted a special EQ Alert for Mozambique, and they will continue to be very likely to get some shaking there along that shore of Africa where all of this earthquake energy started. If and when that region of Africa shakes, THEN we will know for sure that was where it all started! There are some other areas around the Mozambique Region where they could also get some shaking, I suppose that could include the Lake Tanganyika Region and probably most all of the Southern Africa Continent.
Just In: All tsunami warnings and watches in the Pacific canceled, including for Chile and Peru, @cnn now reporting!
Back to the continuing watch for next Major Earthquake: This is very serious, now, we will all need to be watching to see where it will shake next because we know somebody will be SHAKING!!!!! Thank-You for Reading!!! EQ Guy

There Has Been an 8.0 Richters Earthquake at Chile!!!!!
This earthquake seems to have been upgraded to an 8.2 and while a small like 6 foot tsunami does seem to have struck the region, there is not a lot of damage and no deaths being reported. The USGS version can be viewed @ http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/usc000nzvd#summary

Landfalls At Madagascar ALWAYS Shake Mozambique, First!!! WATCH Mozambique Region for 7.5 Richters or More!!!
This is a quick note to say that the landfall just hours ago, yesterday actually, of Tropical Cyclone Hellen at Madagascar was heading in a South East direction, but it is very important for me to say right now that while it was heading away from the Continent of Africa, the very first signs that this will be a huge earthquake will begin to show up immediately along the shores of Africa. It is almost a sure thing as I write this at 1:10pm Central Time, that MOZAMBIQUE will be the first place along this brand new line of Major Earthquake Energy to SHAKE!!! Say 7.5 Richters. It is even probable it will only take a few hours to begin to notice this. There is a major fault line that travels like inland along the shore of the ocean there that routinely shakes whenever there is such a huge landfall as happened yesterday at Madagascar! While the line will continue on and direcly intersects the North Island of New Zealand, that will be at least a few days before it will be noticed there.
Until then watch for HUGE Earthquakes to begin shaking along that tectonic plate boundary out there in the Indian Ocean and around the south of Australia on its way heading up towards New Zealand, Pacific Islands, and directly crossing Los Angeles much later in the month of April!!! New Moon Alert Ends, BUT Next Megathruster/Tsunami Event Could Be Coming!!!!!
There were many, many earthquakes to talk about during the March 2014 New Moon Window!!! You might want to include the 5.1 Richters La Habra/Los Angeles 2014 Earthquake in there albeit 14 hours and 39 minutes before the actual New Moon Window started and while I have always said a few hours before. . . not sure on 14 hours being included. Although our main question would be what effect the New Moon might have had on La Habra. The earthquake itself currently with NO Wikipedia Page to itself @ https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=2014_La_Habra_Earthquake&action=edit&redlink=1 IF you could help on that project, I'm thinking there should be enough talk to afford that earthquake it's own page possibly in perpetuity, not sure. Of course Yellowstone, and Oklahoma also shook notably inside that New Moon Window enough to convince myself of some pull caused by the shifting phases of the moon! Window ended at 11:48am PDT on Monday and it now looks like final good shaker at Fullerton was 2:30pm Monday. Hopefully the end of the New Moon Window will be the end of that subject. . . although I notice Westwood was shaking since then, so?
On that note we will have to now be especially concerned for other parts of the world following Mondays major landfall of a huge Tropical Cyclone at Madagascar which will now threaten parts of the world with the next big major possible megathruster earthquake event with big tsunami's and etc.!!!
