Unless something bigger comes in before press time, this here 5.8 just to the south of the southern tip of Africa is big! Not sure what it is telling us, though, and might guess there is significant movement over in that region. It's not actually too far from a Major Triple Plate Junction over on the other side of Madagascar that we normally watch to know that tectonic plate is moving, but combined with the next one I'm going to post tells me theres a LOT of movement there!!! NEW Prediction For Major 7.8 Richters Earthquake To Strike At Or Near Riobamba, Ecuador March 24, 2016!!! And There Were Small Earthquakes at Eureka, and San Pedro!!!
By now you've probably heard either by listening to my original show on Friday, or having checked out the Earthquake Minute or seeing the transcript. If you missed there is a link below to watch this weeks episode, but anyways I'm telling you right now the new prediction is for Riobamba, Ecuador and I am giving the magnitude at 7.8 but mostly due to this upcoming one having been preceded by a 7.8 Indonesia Earthquake and I know the South America side of the Pacific probably won't be as big. Date March 24 or day of the full moon although I'm also saying between then and New Moon of April 7, 2016 due to a prediction HAVING to pick a single date to be valid. I'm just a lot more used to giving the day range and let's be very serious they'll probably get a Major Earthquake there so watch that whole day range with my actual prediction being for the 24th. ALSO, I mention the fact somewhere along the way that only AFTER discovering Riobamba and choosing it, I found that city had been destroyed by a Major Earthquake in 1797.
That previous Riobamba, Ecuador earthquake was on February 4, 1797 and the magnitude was 8.3 on the Richter Scale with 40,000 reported casualties. Upon a checking I did not produce any huge windstorms, although finding a big "Tropical Cyclone" so far back in the ancient pages of history is made difficult due to uncertianty in the naming of cyclones, typhoons, hurricanes and such big windstorms only having been tightly catagorized in the most recent years. Therefore big windstorms in the 1700's may not have even been called "Cyclones" as they are today and can not simply be researched as such. What I did happen to find was a Very Severe Winter over the 1796-1797 and especially in January just prior to that earthquake when temperatures of -14 reported in Cincinatti on January 8, 1797.

FIRST, now the felt report from the 3.5 Richters Earthquake that struck Ferndale, California in the early morning hours of Monday Morning. . . say 4am my time, or 2am Central Daylight Time and early no matter which time zone! (Of course my phone RANG!) Notice the even far smaller 2.5 now downgraded to a 2.1 near Downtown San Pedro had far, far bigger felt report although more like 4 or 5 in the afternoon there! I actually worked at that Refinery while I was doing construction work in the Los Angeles Region, too! Great view of that bridge from the job site, too! That concludes todays EQ Blog! 6.3 Alaska Islands Earthquake, 3.3 and 4.1 Strikes Ventura County On Big One-Year Anniversary of "Earthquake Minute"!!! With Brand-New Prediction, Too!!!

There was also about a 6.3 Richters Earthquake and lots of aftershocks going on up there, too, up there in those Alaska Islands and it is occurring to me it could have something to do with the movement of the Pacific Tectonic Plate we've been watching for!!! Rest assured. . .I will keep a watch on that and for more such movement that agrees with that idea and movement around far West Canada around Vancouver and Queen Charlotte Islands would be next if that's that case and so our West Coast would be next if either of those places shake! Next then might be Seattle, Cascadia, or that shaky Northern California Triple Plate Junction Region! Watch for that and I'll let you know right here as soon as something like that shakes!

At the top of the following list is the latest of all the medium sized earthquakes that have struck over there near the Strait of Gibraltar. Because I was there checking to see knowing there'd been any number of earthquakes that seemed like they've been kind of the same epicentral spot and I was right! All the "Earthquake Energy" from that landfall of Cyclone Winston at Fiji on February 20, 2016 could very well be permeating all those other tectonic plate boundaries and now arriving there at Morocco and there is just that outside chance that this could be something, there! In all events it is a fact that all this new shaking is coming from somewhere and right at the moment Cyclone Winston is about the only possible major source of a lot of earthquake energy, maybe this is it and maybe somewhere in that region could get the grand finale from all the earthquake energy we're watching for or Greece, Italy, Spain, or France, too! Or Portugal also in that region near where this 5.3 Richters just shook prior to Fridays press time here. For sure it means things are shaking and enhances the watch for those other regions we're watching in the Pacific so keep watching all around that Indio/Aust. Tectonic Plate especially. . . but now Morocco and their neighbors over in that region, too, for as high as 7 Magnitude!

All the "Earthquake Energy" from that landfall of Cyclone Winston at Fiji on February 20, 2016 could very well be permeating all those other tectonic plate boundaries and now arriving there at Morocco and there is just that outside chance that this could be something, there! In all events it is a fact that all this new shaking is coming from somewhere and right at the moment Cyclone Winston is about the only possible major source of a lot of earthquake energy, maybe this is it and maybe somewhere in that region could get the grand finale from all the earthquake energy we're watching for or Greece, Italy, Spain, or France, too! Or Portugal also in that region near where this 5.3 Richters just shook prior to Fridays press time here. For sure it means things are shaking and enhances the watch for those other regions we're watching in the Pacific so keep watching all around that Indio/Aust. Tectonic Plate especially. . . but now Morocco and their neighbors over in that region, too, for as high as 7 Magnitude!

5.2 Richters Strikes Vanuatu! TWO Shakers Strike Near San Francisco Bay!!! Brand New Prediction Due Very Soon!!!
Maybe it has something to do with the New Moon Window that has just came to an end just moments ago, can't say for sure right this moment as all of these big earthquakes are coming in! But there are sure a lot of them as of late Wednesday/Early Thursday and they'll probably keep right on coming in and I will update at the earliest convenience if and when that happens!
That 5.2 was 100 miles south of Port Vila, Vanuatu or the capital there and almost the exact spot we're sort of watching for because we can't of course always say for sure that something will strike there just because there's that straight line running through it you know! So keep watching Vanuatu just the same because it's looking like it should be something major when it does shake!
As for those two shakers of 3.0 and 2.5 Richters that struck it looks like about maybe 20 miles from San Francisco Bay and possibly even closer yet to Hayward, California at Livermore. . . I have a felt report from one of them right here:

I should correct this and add right now that it looks like the 2.5 was on Tuesday and that the list below contains all the earthquakes in just that tiny region around San Francisco Bay mostly so that I could check and see all of them and if there was any pattern forming, here's the list:

Until all the shaking started in Livermore, this here earthquake was going to be the big news! Now I'll just say it is a 5.0 very near where we've been watching around Bogota, Columbia!

Might Not Look Like a Lot. . . But 4.5 Richters So Near Banda Aceh Seems Big!!! Watch There For More Or BIG One!!
This one just looked a little bit too big to ignore unless something even bigger comes along before press time! Says 70 miles Southwest of Banda Aceh, Indonesia and there is already one felt report from there posted at USGS, so you can know there's likely many or you could say it was felt there!

There ended up being a felt report from yesterdays Tonga Earthquake that struck at 5.8 near American Samoa, here's that felt report:

5.8 Richters Strikes About 400 Miles East of Fiji Near American Samoa!!! Watch New Moon Keep Shaking There!!!
Probably should not just say "There" in the headline because although it's certainly a place where shaking might have been expected, there's also still a lot of other places that we are watching, too! The New Moon Window Started at around 6pm Pacific Time on Monday Night, and runs untill Wednesday March 9, 2016 at about the same time, or 6pm Pacific Time. BUT, we will really want to be watching around that time on Tuesday Night along with the Primary will be the EXACT MOMENT of the New Moon and we're sure watching for something Major to shake!!!

Keep in mind that American Samoa where they just got that 5.8 at 24 minutes before Midnight my time or Central Time and they are located just off to the east. . . maybe just East Northeast there in the opposite direction that Cyclone Winston was traveling and keep watching out there in that same direction BEYOND such as Quito, Ecuador where we could probably now say they're due at least for a 5.8 but still think 7 or 8 Richters just to be safe!!! EQ Guy

New Moon Window Starts 6pm Monday Night Pacific Time!!! Runs Through Wednesday! WATCH Those Pacific Islands For Major Shaking/Tsunami, Too!!!
The March New Moon Window is Coming!!! Starting at around 6pm Pacific Time on Monday, March 7 and runs untill Wednesday March 9, 2016 at about the same time, or 6pm Pacific Time. Big deal if you're one of those islands out in the Pacific where they've already been getting all the shaking anyways. . . now time to watch out there for some real shaking!!! Could be enough added pull to get some of this movement of both or either of those tectonic plates moving!!! Here is something else that we already knew was going to be shaking! Yes, it's Quito, Ecuador and this particular one here could be just the beginning. At 5.1 there could still be a 7 Magnitude heading for them there!

The list of places shaking out there in that now extremely shaky Indian Ocean Region is growing fast as I'm typing!!! JUST added that 5.3 along with NOW a whole big list at Papua New Guinea or PNG. . . where we've been watching super closely! Keep watching because that is our potential epicenter for a big 7 or 8 Richters Earthquake/Tsunami Event!!! Here's updated list as of Early Friday Central Time:

Also a 2.4 Struck near downtown Los Angeles with a fairly big felt report here: http://eqalert.blogspot.com/2016/03/24-richters-strikes-near-downtown-los.html There was also a 2.3 Richters earthquake just a mile or so from Hoover Dam near Boulder City, Nevada!!! Sure, one single tiny such earthquake can't mean too much to come. . . but is there any possibility something major could shake there? Imma guess if it DOES. . . gonna be some time yet and not today or tommorow! One other Los Angeles area earthquake was a 2.3 near Carlsbad.

500 Million Dollars Damage At Fiji Probably Factor In Now Huge Earthquakes To Follow!!! Keep Watching!!!
The data is actually coming in from Fiji as I'm writing this with a lot of the latest stories on the Cyclone disaster at Fiji being very recent like just the last few days! You can search "Damage From Cyclone Winston" yourself but it is looking like it's even far more extensive than you are going to see demonstrated on any one single story, rather, I recall seeing tens of thousands reportedly homeless as the result but can't imagine what the situation is with THAT MANY houses that there are so many being reported as homeless there. Combine that with the windspeeds and speeds given for the highest gusts and we are now looking at a very believable fact of life. . . . . that we are looking at quite a lot more Major Earthquakes and continuing movement of both the Pacific, and Indio/Australian Tectonic Plates here!
There are also a lot of places around the Indio/Australian Tectonic Plate where additional shaking or even Major Shaking could yet take place as the result of this movement there. In addition to Lake Tanganyika Africa, and Iran, some other places include Pakistan, Italy, and Sichuan China Regions. I had also already mentioned the Andaman and Nicobar Islands but Phuket is also in that region as well as Philippines whom I even already discussed having gotten a similar big earthquake following another big windstorm! And finally while I mentioned Japan, there's also Taiwan and some of Russia up there in that Northwest Pacific Region where you might as well also say Alaska, too!!!
Here is the now updated list of all the earthquakes currently having struck in that region, I suppose since yesteerdays EQ Blog when we were still just saying it COULD happen at any moment! Top is the very latest and you can see the 7.8 was actually preceded by a 5.1 but along with that whole series we'd been watching the previous couple days, too! Here's the list:
