MONDAY'S Eclipse Will Also Be The Exact Moment of The August 2017 New Moon!!! Window Starts on Sunday at 1:32pm, Too!!! Earthquakes Continue Up There Around The Mount St. Helens Region!!! AND a 6.8 Struck Mid-Atlantic Late Thursday!!!
Eclipse is also the Exact Moment of the August 2017 New Moon and therefore that New Moon Window will actually start on Sunday at that same time: or Sunday August 20, 2017 at 1:32pm Sunday, with that Eclipse on Monday at 1:32pm Central Time. For purposes of the added pull of the New Moon and its effect on Earthquakes lets start watching on Sunday!!! Also looks like eclipse MIGHT be passing almost directly over Mt. St. Helens and so perhaps we'll need to be watching there for some real ACTION!!! On Monday!!!!!

Now for this other shaking going on at Mid-Atlantic!!! Started off the day on Thursday with a smaller 5.2 Ascension Island Earthquake and got me wondering what might be going on out there in the middle of the Atlantic? That was until around 10pm my time Thursday Night as I was preparing this Edition of EQ Blog. . . when my phone rang now with a 6.8 very near the epicenter of the 5.2 this morning. Looks like the magnitude might be changing on this one, too:

Might actually need to keep an eye on the Atlantic there throughout this weekends New Moon/Eclipse due to possiblility of tsunami alerts. And currently no tsunami warning system is known to exist on our East Coast.
Thought it just a little unusual for a series of small shakers such as these to strike San Simeon? This is near the 2003 Paso Robles Earthquake Epicenter for what it's worth:

Ditto for Mid-Atlantic although do not expect too much larger than those two that already shook there and hopefully no need to evacuate Ascension Island. Real problem is where I just seen there may be an issue with a "Gravity Anomaly" associated with the Eclipse!!! Fear that it is going to be crossing over NEW MADRID. . . and with a Gravitational Anomaly!!! MIGHT need to watch that shaky region, too!!! Looking forward to a busy weekend of preparing for that Eclipse on Monday!!! Weather NOT permitting, could have to drive to Indiana, Des Moines, Springfield, or St. Louis for my own personal viewing! 3 Earthquakes Struck Within One-Mile Or So Of Mount Saint Helens on Tuesday!!! Keep Watching There For More. . . OR For a Big (Or Somewhat of a) Eruption, There!!!
Could hardly beleive it when I saw these earthquakes virtually COVERING about the spot where I know from a lot of experience to be the location of the Big Volcano known as MOUNT SAINT HELENS!!! So it was that 3 small earthquakes seem to have struck practically right in the middle of that volcano on Tuesday!!! Might not seem like much, but just so happens that all three of these earthquakes are within not much more than a mile from the very middle of the volcano at Mount Saint Helens!!!!! Picture follows of how close, you can probably see and I've even Zoomed-Wide enough so you can see "Spirit Lake" there and a Great Pic of that Volcano courtesy of Google Earth, too:
THAT is just one of the spots where small earthquakes shook so close to that BIG VOLCANO on Tuesday (My Birthday). . . ONE of the other ones was just a mile or so to the East there, and the other just to the north! Here is the entire list of the small earthquakes there and a warning that more are probably coming!!! So, it is still possible to hear that one-hour Radio Show at archives now under Monday Access Hour @ http://archive.wortfm.org/ AND along with all that. . . NOW Mt. St. Helens has started shaking!!! Quite a day and must say to watch around that Big Volcano for more shaking!!! And hopefully not too big of an eruption! Also when one volcano starts shaking, it's not uncommon for OTHERS to start shaking and erupting, too, so be aware there are a number of volcanoes in that region along with such nearby places as Mexico!!! 3.4 Richters Struck Near Running Springs, California Very Near Where We Are Watching, And a 3.1 Struck About 150 Miles East of Mt. St. Helens, There, Too!!!
While I cannot say these are getting bigger, I can tell you it seems like we keep getting notable shakers in these regions where we are definitely watching for something just slightly bigger there! Running Springs is about the first little town when you travel up the mountain from San Bernardino just off the 10 Freeway East of Los Angeles:

4.6 Offshore From Oregon Where We Are Watching!!! Some Shaking In Southern California Near Salton Sea, And Another 2.7 Golden Gate Bridge Region Earthquake There!!! UPDATE: At Press Time a 6.2 Richters Philippines Earthquake!!!
JUST IN: There was a 6.2 Philippines Earthquake at 28 minutes after midnight Central Time and by the looks of it there could be some serious damage there! Very near several towns with 50 to 100,000 populations and so an update will follow at some point!!! Now Fridays Previously written EQ Blog:
THIS Earthquake shook very close to where we are CURRENTLY watching, and as a matter of fact, I had been planning to do a piece on for Fridays "Earthquake Minute" on my local Community Radio Station! Now, instead here now I'll be posting one that looks VERY MUCH like the one we are or were watching for there! Albeit a 5.1 we're watching for. . .so of course we'll need to watch for quite some time due to it possibly being more in the order of a 6 or 7 there:

3.5 Richters Earthquake Struck Big Bear City Just North of San Bernardino on Wednesday!!! Still a Few Days Left In The Big EQ Alert For That Region of Far Eastern Los Angeles/SoCal, Too!!! Keep a Watching, There!!!
Headline did once read "Pearblossum, Pearblossum, Pearblossum!!!!!" due to the sequence of shakers that now follows this first rather big story! This one actually doesn't look like it was too far from Big Bear City if not directly under it!!! I noticed upon checking that August 12 is Day 40, and August 15 is Day 43 on the alert which includes this here very region!!! And so it is. . . we'll probably need to keep watching this far East Los Angeles/Southern California Region for more:

Also all that shaking now looking like it could affect Southern California, along with now several other landfalls probably should include Guam, Wake Islands, Nepal yet, and maybe others. Note that I will be working on TV-Series ALL NEXT WEEK in Chicago!!! So, I'm trying to start making excuses right now for not following all this so closely due to all the work that goes into planning on being out-of-town for a whole week! Naturally very little of that work is related to earthquakes, so please be aware there are now many alerts, BUT. . .aside from Guam and of course all that shaking that already took place in China, aside from all that not anything else BIG!!! Big 6.5 Richters Earthquake Struck Sichuan, China Tuesday Morning!!! Another Big 6.3 Struck North of Sichuan Region Tuesday Night!!! Both Talking Central Time USA For Times. Several Dead, Lots of Damage There, Too!!!
5 Dead, 7, Dead, 9 Dead. . . at least 17 Dead!!! Those are some of the headlines from the big 6.5 China Earthquake of early Tuesday our time that struck not far from the region or maybe epicenter of the Sichuan, China Earthquake of 2008. So, let me start out with that drawing I ran immediately following the landfall of Typhoon Nesat at Taiwan:
You don't really have to be all that familiar with the region to notice that straight-line of "Potential Earthquake Energy" LOOKS like it runs right up into CHINA, there!!! Reason we're looking at this drawing right now is mostly due to the fact that they've as of this writing now had TWO Major Shakers up in that region!!! That 6.5 around 10am Central Time, and later on Tuesday Evening around 6:35pm Central Time another at 6.3 struck to the north of the first one. As you might be able to figure out by the drawing, the line more or less goes directly through that region, although when checked with the globe to be as exact as possible, you might know I put the emphasis on NEPAL because of that being just a little more likely to shake at this magnitude given the fact that they have been shaking! Again, I'm always very sorry when I do not write out an entire list of ALL the places such a line goes through. . . as you can now see by that above drawing. Also note the line travels in the reverse direction of that landfall and that's why I was leaning so heavily on GUAM, and the Wake Islands Region along with the fact that it's a lot of Americans in that region and that's most of my readership with all due respect to all the rest of you, I watch those regions of the USA just a little extra closely.

I suppose somebody might want to note that the Full Moon would have certainly been a factor probably in both of these two big China Earthquakes. With the first Earthquake Shaking at 13:19 UTC, and the Full Moon Window running until 18:13 UTC on Tuesday. . . you could say that 6.5 actually struck about 5 hours before the window ended or 19 hours after the Exact Moment!!! The later China Earthquake at 23:27 UTC or 5 hours, 14 minutes after the end of the Full Moon Window and technically even beyond my own personal 3 hours, 20 minutes that I like to add to these windows for good measure. . . but you have to admit it's close!!! (Actually just 1 hour, 54 minutes beyond my usual extra time that I give) And some other Full Moon/Earthquake folks might even call it a direct hit!!!
The felt reports from both of these consist entirely of places that are for the most part considered non-descript to English speaking folk! "Chengdu, Sichuan,"--"Peking, Beijing"--"Yining, Xinjiang"--"Hangzhou, Zhejiang" and "Chongqing, Chongqing" along with a few more like that and for that reason I decided not to run either of those lists with the 6.5 at 117 felt reports, and the 6.3 at 47 as of this writing. The epicenters were about 1000 miles apart with the 6.3 striking just west of Northwest of the 6.5, while the 6.3 was about 500 miles South of Novosibersk, and 1000 Miles West of Bejing and about 600 North of Nepal and not much further to Kathmandu there, too! The 6.5 was 800 Miles Northeast of Nepal, 300 Miles North of Burma, 800 Miles Northwest of Taiwan,and 700 Miles Northwest of Hong Kong.
I suppose there were some other things shaking, but I'm leaving all that for a later blog with all the shaking in China let's go to press so folks can get their updates I promised!!! EQ Guy

Hollywood's Famous Sunset Strip Gets a Tiny Earthquake!!! Just a Few Blocks West of West Hollywood!!! AND Watch For Shakers Now Around West Coast of Washington/Oregon, Along With Mt. Hood, And Mt. St. Helens!!! UPDATE: 6.5 China With Death, Injuries, And Damage!!!
UPDATE: This rang my phone right away this morning, a 6.5 China Earthquake and upon checking it is now looking like a big one struck there!!! I'll have all that in next EQ Blog!!! Now Tuesday:
THIS Earthquake just hit the "Sunset Strip" on Monday!!! Not all that big, but can serve as a reminder that is very near the epicenter of the Northridge Quake just the other side of the mountain there in Hollywood!!! So, I took a trip all around my old neighborhood on a "Street Views" map, and more about that after a look at the USGS Report there:

NOT Sure where I got that pic from, sorry, and Thank-You, Too!!! Got a great pic of the old "Viper Room" although didn't see the old "Key Club" not sure if it's still there or not! And of course Pink Dot, Guitar Center, my agents old building who got me my first part shooting up in Malibu Canyon on like my second day in Hollywood!!! Movie Theater on Sunset and Fairfax, Directors Guild, Burger King, Ralphs where we park on the roof there, and upon cruising up one block to Hollywood Boulevard saw (Manns) Chinese Theater, Dolby Theater, and The El Capitan Theater, along with the Hollywood & Highland Center and of course. . . The Hollywood Sign!!! End of tour, just hope none of those places become the epicenter anytime soon!!! In fact one of the stores on my tour was actually destroyed in the Northridge Earthquake of 1994!!!

For now be aware a 2.1 already struck to the south of the Mt. Hood, Mt. St. Helens Region where I'm already now starting to watch!!! Should be bigger than the last 5.1 there, but how big. . . you'll have to wait till I get all my research on this one!!! Until then watch our West Coast along Washington, and Oregon!!! Aguanga, California Is Shaking As Yet Another Landfall Of Typhoon at Japan Promises To SHAKE Our West Coast And Maybe California, AGAIN!!! As The Full Moon Window Continues, Too!!!
Have to deal with the reality of all these facts just as they come in and this new Typhoon Noru making Landfall at Japan right now as I'm writing. . . is quickly becoming a REALITY!!! Take a look at the latest drawing that shows where it is, and where it's going:
AND if it's anywhere near those other lines that have also crossed along a similar route, then we can count on somewhere along our West Coast getting another fairly big earthquake!!! More or less have to wait until Typhoon Noru tracks all the way across there to tell you for sure so stay tuned into this week!!!
YOU could say these earthquakes in this Aguanga Series seem to be getting bigger as the moon is getting fuller!!! Look at the top one and it's the biggest, AND struck since the Full Moon Window started around 1 Sunday Afternoon!!! 4.2 Richters Earthquake Struck Just North of Oklahoma City Late Wednesday Night!!! Now All The Fracking Stuff, Again!!! Now Watch Out California, Because California Could Shake Next!! Full Moon Coming Monday, Too!!!
NOW There's been a lot of shaking in Oklahoma. . . AGAIN!!! Of course all the stories I could find lead with the cause of all of it, but I won't even go into that here because fracking is fracking no matter what you say about the water, like all the stories for whatever reason seem to be saying!!! Here's the facts!!! A 4.2 Richters Earthquake struck very near Oklahoma City late last night and actually while not being too late to make Thursdays EQ Blog, was too late to post it along with a worthy discussion which is here now! 5.5 Richters Earthquake Struck 15 Miles North of Santiago, Chile Late Tuesday!!! Did Just Say Santiago, Chile In Mondays EQ Blog, Too!!!
Speaking of Earthquake Predictions, and I know I hadn't quite got up to that point, yet, the day was like yesterday or Monday as I was posting the next days EQ Blog that I went ahead and named some of those new EQ Alerts!!! Along with the now upcoming alert for Guam was some others. . . mainly that one for NORTH of Santiago, Chile and the reason I'm telling you about it now is a BIG, or rather big 5.5 struck there early Wednesday Morning already!! That is before I even had another chance to mention it, let alone begin to talk about a prediction for there. And I went back and checked out that EQ Blog to find a mention of 6 Magnitude being the general number I was thinking right at the time. Well, now here it is!!! Rang my phone at around 3am my time and much too late to wake up and look into this matter. No damage reported, anyways, and depth reported at around 55 miles so that equates to not all that much shaking there, too. As you can see in the following USGS Report and List of Nearby Places, it's 17 Miles from Downtown Santiago:

Because about the final day of any shaking that shows up was July 27 due to just noticing it on Tuesday and the date of the New Moon was July 23 or about 4 days of good shaking beyond that New Moon. . . which I suppose you could now count on in the future or "For Future Reference" so to speak! New EQ Alerts From Landfall of Typhoon Nesat, a 2.0 San Francisco Bay Shaker, And a 3.1 Ridgely, Tennessee!!! UPDATE: 5.5 Santiago, Chile!!!
UPDATE: And this might not appear right at first, but my regular readers by now know this one looks like its already happening!!! The Tuesdays EQ Blog you're about to read will talk about Chile and Argentina. . . and right now I'm reporting a 5.5 Santiago Chile just 15 miles North of Santiago!!! I promised you that I'd have those affected areas as a result of landfall of Typhoon Nesat at Taiwan late last week and today I have them!!! They are Guam very soon, Nepal in the not too distant future although nowhere near that big one they had recently. . . more in the area of a 5.9 but I'll get a more exact magnitude in the coming days. And looks like this line is going to be crossing to the north of Santiago, Chile and I'm looking at Salta, Argentina and Copiapo, Chile for this one at around a 6 but again I'll work on dialing in the magnitude for all these in the coming days! Watch all of them immediately, though.

I promised you that I'd have those affected areas as a result of landfall of Typhoon Nesat at Taiwan late last week and today I have them!!! They are Guam very soon, Nepal in the not too distant future although nowhere near that big one they had recently. . . more in the area of a 5.9 but I'll get a more exact magnitude in the coming days. And looks like this line is going to be crossing to the north of Santiago, Chile and I'm looking at Salta, Argentina and Copiapo, Chile for this one at around a 6 but again I'll work on dialing in the magnitude for all these in the coming days! Watch all of them immediately, though.

Fairly large earthquake struck around the Southern Illinois Region yesterday so I went and checked on that, what was at one time a big alert, and found it is right about now in the area of Day 60, but could still have the potential to do something in that region so let's just keep a watch there for now, and check out this one:

Now we've got some earthquakes to be watching for!!! Line came very near Nepal, again! And they get earthquakes at GUAM, and Wake Island, too! In fact Guam has had Major Earthquakes with Tsunami, too, although we're not expecting anything so big here now. More in the 6 Magnitude Range but let's start watching immediately just the same!
