My phone actually rang DURING a recent edition of my regular "Earthquake Minute" on my local Community Radio Station, and the day has now come, or days that it because I'm checking in on Monday Afternoon and work till Sunrise, then Tuesday Night, then Wednesday Night!!! 6.6 Richters Earthquake Shook Kamchatka, Russia Islands Region!!! Also a 5.0 Struck Mozambique, and 5.3 Struck Azores Both Exactly As Predicted In Alerts!!! Keep Watching Those Regions!!!

Among several I have to report on today that have already been active alerts commonly discussed here and on "Earthquake Minute" the first here is a 5.3 Azore Islands, or that general area although haven't seen a real report FROM there saying it was felt, but the distance is like 100 Miles from those islands so keep watching there although there have now been a few of these there. Not sure if this headline from the USGS Report explains that or not: 5.3 - 142km ENE of Santa Cruz das Flores, Portugal.

This will now be about the second such earthquake to strike that Mozambique Region in the wake of landfall of Cyclone Enawo at Madagascar on March 7, so bigger shakers are probably yet to come there!!!

Condolences Going Out To Favorite "Storm Chasers" Today!!!!! Also: BIG Northern California/Oregon Earthquake Strikes Near Another Historic Alaska Earthquake Tsunami City!!!

Very Sorry to report to my regular readers who may not have seen or heard this story: We lost several "Storm Chasers" on Tuesday Night in a very unfortunate accident out there in the field where many of them work. Two from regular apperances on Weather Channel and the other was the unfortunate in the other vehical where this accident occurred without going into any of those details. Was only the night before I was glued to the tv watching "Kelly Williamson" do his usual LIVE reports from his vehicle traveling across Oklahoma!!! Now today having to report his death along with his storm chasing partner and one more guy storm chasing in that other vehicle. God Bless all of those involved and their families and am very sorry all of you!!!

Hope it's OK if I borrow the above illustration from "The Weather Channel" and condolences must go out to Alex Wilson, and Mike Seidel who himself has also been involved in a previous storm chasing tragedy!!! (From "WeatherUnderground" where I always seen Kelly's reports) Very Sorry to you all:(((

Must add one story overdue concerning that Anniversary of Great Alaska Earthquake Monday:

Yesterdays Edition of EQ Blog was a little bit busy with all the things shaking in Alaska, and this happened at some point in the day on Monday, too, but needed a lengthy explanation of it's own, so here goes!!! I notice one of the towns on the following list of nearby places is "Crescent City, California" and THAT is also the town where several of the deaths in that Great Alaska Earthquake happened when that big Alaska Tsunami reached that town and I believe I have heard that due to the shape of the bay or harbor there and maybe something to do with the depth of the water where the tsunami came in to the shore, there. Don't have the exact number of deaths there, but checking came up with 10 in Crescent City, and 12 in the Crescent City area and reason given as "bathymitry", (Methinks that was kind of what I was trying to explain). Big 6.1 Richters Earthquake Struck Alaska Islands on Anniversary of That Great 9.2 Alaska Earthquake!!! Late Monday: Landfall of 115 Miles Per Hour Cyclone Debbie at Queensland, Australia!!!

With regards to the Great Alaska Earthquake, I received a copy of this here Great Story in My E-Mail and want to add that there were 9 deaths in Anchorage, 13 in Seward, and a number of tsunami deaths in California, too!!! Very sorry for deaths in this earthquake. Tsunami was reported between 30 and 40 feet at Alaska. Flags were lowered to half-staff on Monday in Alaska and the Governor declared Monday "Earthquake Rememberance Day"!!!!! What a surprise to see this one showing up on the big list. . . on the exact date of that 1964 Great Alaska Earthquake!!! On Sunday Night There Was a 3.5 Richters Earthquake Northeast of Bakersfield!!! Also a 2.0 Laguna Beach, And One In Moorpark, Too!!! Looks Like a Fair Amount of Shaking Around L.A.!!!

March 27 seems to me is the anniversary of the day in 1964 of that Great Alaska Earthquake and so let's hope it won't repeat with as big as the 9.2 Richters that struck up there that day and seems to me a tsunami, too!!!

There was just a 3.5 Richters Earthquake about 50 Miles to the Northeast of Bakersfield with mostly towns up in that region in the list of so far 60 felt reports. Most notable from the list of nearby places are these two here places because Lone Pine is an old epicenter of a 7.4 to 7.9 Richters Earthquake in the late 1800's and we're sort watching there right now, too:

That Peru Earthquake in the banner headline must have just came in towards the end of the day on Thursday, because I don't know if I ever seen it until press time, but it's about 150 Miles Southeast of Lima and we're watching that region for about a 7.6 Earthquake. Just noticed this evening the line sort of crosses through or very near that Riobamba, Ecuador town we once measured off of prior to last years Ecuador Earthquake, so. . ,. we might actually watch Riobamba again, although this time the line of potential Major Earthquake Energy IS a lot more in the way of perpendicular with that fault line there that may actually do something this time!!!

With regards to that yesterdays deleted Santa Barbara Island Earthquake, not sure if I mentioned that the Malibu Earthquake which was also a part of the set there, remained on the list. Question was why all those felt reports did not become a part of the one single earthquake that stayed on that list? While possibly moving the epicenter of the 3.0 and recognizing the Agua Dulce Earthquake to have more or less been the same earthquake. . . it then seems all the felt reports would belong to the Malibu Earthquake, just saying. Malibu shaker is currently posted with just ONE felt report, that from Malibu.

Not all that big or unusual, and the felt report did not have any major town names, but something does seem to keep shaking along the East Coast just the same and this one was like 50 Miles West of Richmond as the list of Nearby Places shows:

3.0 Richters Struck Near Santa Barbara Island, California While a 2.4 Struck Malibu, AND a 2.2 Struck Near Agua Dulce, California, Too!!!

So to begin with the epicenter of the biggest of these earthquakes that struck just moments before press time has a description in the list of nearby places like 50 miles south of Oxnard, California and I'm adding about 40 Miles West of Catalina Island there, too, although not certain how far west Catalina Island is from say Dana Point or Laguna Beach where I catch the ferry boat TO Catalina Island! Might be twenty, or maybe twenty-five miles from mainland west to Catalina and so the felt reports will follow as well and possibly not contain many from San Diego County. Here's the big list of a lot of earthquakes around Los Angeles saying there could be MORE COMING!!!

Possibly narrowing it down to one single epicenter although at the same time it could have been the computer that arranged it all into THREE Earthquakes in the first place you know!

4.9 Richters Earthquake Struck Tanzania Just 100 Miles From Mozambique!!! THEN, a 4.8 Struck Zorritos, Peru!!! BOTH Directly Along Line Of Major Earthquake Energy We're Watching, Too!!!

IT is looking to me like both of these places we're watching are SHAKING!!! Because I had pasted this first one here late yesterday and then just now about an hour before press time you'll find the discussion at the end of todays EQ Blog. . . Peru/Ecuador also had one there!!! This first one was very near the spot in Madagascar where Enawo made landfall, but you can count on this region across the bay shaking and it DID! Spring Equinox Will Strike At Early Monday Morning!!! However Mom Already Balanced Egg on Sunday!!! 15 Hours BEFORE Equinox!!!

Kind of an unusual story to start your week off on this here my Monday Edition of EQ Blog. . . when I got home from riding bike on a very sunny Sunday afternoon my mom announced to me she had already gone ahead and tried her usual "Balancing an Egg" routine that normally comes with the equinox and reported to me it actually BALANCED at 2:30pm Sunday, or about 15 hours before the exact moment of the equinox! With the Spring Equinox arriving in it's "Entirety" at 6:29 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time on Monday, March 20, OR 5:29am Central, OR 3:59am Pacific on Early Monday Morning. . . NOT at all sure how to explain it!? We have always talked about the how's and why's of the egg balancing act and if infact you are NOT able to actually balance one the other days of the year, but haven't actually gone to the extent of testing that theory. So, at least for now as of this writing we do know it's not only the exact moment that such pull exists around the earth, but at best 15 hours before, too!!! Therefore at least for now until I have my mom investigate this more fully, we should probably also be aware of some additional pull on the earth as a result of them equinox's and solstices.
