The big news today seems to be the fact that there are still a lot of tickets available for Sundays big Playoff Game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Green Bay Packers! I just checked prior to writing and found only a few single tickets still available in case anybody was looking to quick buy a ticket to that game and then fly to Wisconsin! Of course if any of you are serious about it, a number of tickets will surely remain available at such places as StubHub probably right up to the game and the black-out on local TV probably only applies to Ticketmaster for the one or two folks who might be reading this in the Green Bay or Milwaukee TV markets!

TONS of New Snow On East Coast!!!!! MORE Major Earthquakes Coming!!!
Checking the exact location of the two earthquakes that struck tonight at Mexico, I have 463 miles West Southwest and 231 miles South Southeast of Mexico City and I did not see any Mexico earthquakes of the type that occasionally affect California like we know some of them do. Although still serious when we have two medium sized ones such as those, there was also a 4.3 at Guadeloupe and I had to check to see where that was! Of course when I found it out there in the Caribbean I realized that I was familiar with it when I seen the Island of Montserrat just to the north of it.
Well there has sure been a good share of coverage on the Severe Winter Storm that they are getting out on our East Coast with some of the reports suggesting an additional two feet of snow before Friday is all through. Not real sure exactly how much snow they already had out east, but I can tell you it is piling up out in front of our house here in Wisconsin and it is looking like one of those winters where we might again start running short on places to pile up all the snow from shoveling, and shoveling, and shoveling the driveway!
MORE Snow will now equal more and more alerts for a major earthquake to strike although California might not be the only place that will ultimately need to be worrying about all this new snow in addition to all of it that is already piled up out there! LOTS of Small California Shakers As New Moon Window is Ending
There were a lot of small earthquakes that struck in and around California during the night including the biggest that rang my phone right at midnight as I was dozing off to sleep. The 4.0 that struck just a few miles Offshore from Northern California at Ferndale already had a page and a half of felt reports before I logged back on to see how serious it was! HAPPY NEW YEAR 2014!!!

Exact moment of January 2014 New Moon was at 5:15am/3:15am Pacific Time on the morning of January 1 or New Years Day 2014. So far there was a 6.6 at Vanuatu today! Watch now as the Full Moon Window runs through tomorrow or Thursday. January 2, 2014 for more earthquakes!!!
There was a 5.2 Richters that might have gone otherwise unnoticed except for the fact that it ended up making a lot of local news around Italy where it struck and so as a result I am now going to update on those details on this earthquake that struck Italy on Sunday, December 29 at 17:08UTC. A lot of reports of shaking must have came in from Naples, Rome, and the area around Mt. Vesuvius because Italy seemed to be especially concerned about this 5.2 that struck 40 miles from the middle of the huge Mt. Vesuvius Volcano!!! So far no word on any activity at Mt. Vesuvius but I can tell you it erupted in the year 79AD!!! As I write I had not heard any more about it, although I do know they watch it closely for activity, but so far do not seem to have said anything. Watch for earthquakes over in Italy because there would have to be more shaking for anything to happen with that volcano and I do not think the shaking that happened was even headed in the direction of the volcano so hopefully that will be the end of it.

Finally those three that happened at Calexico/Mexicali struck at the following times: 17:05:19, 17:21:57, 18:56:58 with that most recent one there being less than half-hour ago as I write and the Borrego Springs 3.3 was also less than an hour ago at 18:32:35. You can subtract an "8" from any of those Universal Times given to come up with Pacific Time, but the fact remains. . . the next one could strike at any moment and the range we are watching for New Years Day Earthquake is 5.1 to 6.5 and that Official Prediction is at: http://earthquakealert3.blogspot.com/2013/12/official-prediction-for-earthquake-to.html

January 2014 New Moon Window Starts Immediately!!! Small San Jacinto Swarm and MORE at Oklahoma!!!
At the top of todays notes say "Swarm at San Jacinto" but after watching the series of small earthquakes that was striking there earlier today I decided it does not look too much like a swarm like it did while it was happening today. Rather it now appears to just be three small earthquakes that struck up there in that Perris, Hemet, San Jacinto region and nothing more ever became of all that. I believe I totaled them all up earlier and even their sum was only 5.5 or somewhere in that region so now I want to move on.
Oklahoma was getting a lot of earthquakes recently, but just today I have, or Sunday rather, three at 2.5, 2.9, and a huge 4.1 that started the day off with a whole page and a half of felt reports. You don't really need me to tell you that there were 3 from Tulsa, 4 from Oklahoma City, 1 from Kansas, and 1 from Texas and of course all the usual Oklahoma towns in the general area of this one that was located 4 miles Southwest of a town named Langston, and 32 miles North Northeast of Oklahoma City. There have just been so many earthquakes in Oklahoma that it could only mean a major one coming at some point, just want everybody to know that I do not believe that it means the epicenter of the big one will necessarily fall inside the State of Oklahoma, though. Could be foreshocks for a big New Madrid Earthquake, California Earthquake or even Nevada, Yellowstone, or Mexico Earthquake.
The exact moment of the January 2014 New Moon will strike early on Wednesday Morning, January 1, 2014 and so let us consider that entire New Moon Window to begin on Monday Night since the exact hour will fall very early Tuesday Morning or that full 24 hours before the exact moment which in this case will happen before 2013 is over and so the January 2014 New Moon Alert will actually begin in 2013!!! Or Monday December 30. 2013 only because it's actually starting at around one in the morning early Tuesday and will run through January 2 in case anybody was watching ever so closely for the action that has been posted as winding up at the drop of the ball on New Years Eve. . . we will now have to continue for like a day and a half beyond due to the New Moon interrupting our watch! Lone Pine, California at 155 Richters So Far and Still Shaking!!!!!
There was also a 2.3 that registered as 9 miles Northwest of Truckee, California that so far has one felt report, but it came from a town called Redwood City, California. Here is that felt report:

Just struck me as unusual that there were no felt reports from up in those mountain cities where they had been getting a fair amount of shaking including Susanville not too long ago. Not sure without checking, but seems like Redwood City is situated around the San Francisco Bay and I want to say it is the town I traveled through on Cal-Train on my way to the offices of the USGS in Menlo Park during Quake Chase 2011.
Continuing on in that ongoing discussion about earthquakes striking out in California and I have had to update that original now long, long list of all the earthquakes and aftershocks at Lone Pine, California and took some additional time to add up the current sum total and came up with 155.9 last night with three more this morning. Of course I am removing a lot of smaller ones so this list pretty much only contains 1.5 or 2, or larger @ http://eqalert.blogspot.com/2013/12/47-lone-pine-california-with-all.html My notes say the exact location of all the earthquakes they are getting just outside of Lone Pine appears to be the latest in a chain of volcanoes that lines the California Mountains, but I have to add that it is not likely this latest major volcano will be erupting any time soon. . . rather it could be a million years still off into the future, but will most likely some day be another big one in an ever growing chain of volcanoes that will continue to lengthen as long as earth continues to turn. I have noticed that occasionally such activity will lead to a volcano such as one in Guatemala, Mexico, or somewhere else nearby like that. My opinion that it is definitely a sign there is a lot still going on.
New Moon will be early hours of January 1, so we will need to begin watching for all that starting Monday Night, and I will have an updated EQ Blog right here before that.
Yes, there are currently a lot of California Earthquakes happening and the ones striking in Northern Mexico that are affecting California are continuing, too! Keep Watching for more! One of the Official Predictions could wind up being exactly right! EQ Guy

Might Consider "L.A. Talk Radio" Offer!!! Unless Westwood One Calls First!!!
Not much seems to be shaking as I begin on my Friday December 27, 2013 EQ Blog! So great time to say I am now thinking about accepting the job offer out at "L.A. Talk Radio"!!! Possibly re-locating back out there where I already did a long stretch including work for Central Casting and with the Los Angeles Millwrights local, too! Sounds like I would need to line up all of my own sponsors and in order to satisfy myself. . . that would mean having sufficient sponsors to support this brand new Grand Idea!!! It'll take about a hundred a month or so to get me back into that Hollywood Apartment where I had the view of the Hollywood Sign, you know! New Moon Window will begin on Monday Night due to the exact moment being a complex logarithm that begins with the fact that it strikes at 5:14am Central, 3:15am Pacific on the morning of January 1, 2014. Therefore the window starts at 3am Pacific on December 31 or you could say we have to start watching the eve of December 30 since that wee hour of 3:15am Pacific is actually just the late hours of the day before which will be Monday, December 30, 2013 and there is a lot to be watching for that night if nothing has shook by then!
Especially we should continue to watch for that "Malibu Earthquake" discussed in the most recent Official Prediction here: http://earthquakealert3.blogspot.com/2013/12/official-prediction-for-earthquake-to.html I notice that O.P. will actually be running through January 17, so it might be especially a problem with the New Moon. There is definately an ongoing problem with California getting a lot of earthquakes so continue to watch until then and especially during the upcoming New Moon Window on the final days and hours of the month/year!!!
Finally one of the biggest alerts that is now looking more and more like it expired upon the striking of that 7.8 Mid-Atlantic Earthquake, the resultant from the landfall of Super Typhoon Haiyan will be officially running it's course on December 29, 2013 and it will almost be safe to wave good-bye to all of that! However I did say "Almost"! Yes, it will be Day 52, but for one thing December 29 IS NOT here quite yet! For another there has historically been just ONE that went on beyond that many days although I do not recall what one therefore we will be able to just forget about that one and get on with our lives after Sunday passes! Of course first Sunday has to pass! So be watching for more of that 7.6 to 9.1 Richters that hopefully all shook out in the Mid-Atlantic! And also watch California for some of that alert that still runs through January 17, 2014 and coincidentally the 20th Anniversary of Northridge!!! EQ Guy

4.2 Strikes Near Border Town of Tecate! Shakers at Lone Pine, California Continue!!! Story: Official Prediction 2010!!!
Hello and I hope everybody enjoyed Christmas as much as me! Got some Great Ice Skating in and caught one of those wonderful new movies that opened today. . . along with a couple more chances to shovel the driveway! Good Times!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!!!!!
Here's a quote from a well respected magazine who recently did a story about some guys working feverishly to some day zero in on the elusive concept of earthquake prediction!!!!! "Well before the earth started shaking, (in Costa Rica circa 2012) geoscientists had forcasted that a magnitude 7.7 to 7.8 quake should occur around the year 2000, plus or minus 20 years." The most unlikely of quotations that you might expect to see here on The EQ Guy's EQ Blog. . . but I thought quite fiting for Christmas Eve 2013!!! Here's hoping everybody will have an enjoyable Christmas!!!

Update From 4.7 Lone Pine, California!!! Good-Bye Candlestick Park!!!!! And Merry Christmas, Everybody!!!!!
As I was lining up all the stories for todays EQ Blog, I discovered a couple new Montana Shakers that were of especial interest due to the fact that Montana gets that occasional huge Major Earthquake and it may only be a matter of time when that next like 7 or 8 Richters Earthquake strikes up in the Montana Region, although it could still be a long ways off you know. So today they have added a 2.9 50 miles South Southwest of Butte and a 1.9 up by Flathead Lake again and south of Kalispell where one struck a few days ago. Wouldn't be an all together unusual place for a major earthquake to strike up there around Butte, Montana or Flathead Lake Region but could still be many years before one actually does strike so let's just continue watching that area closely for now.
One felt report came in from all the Montana activity and it was a person in a town called Dayton, Montana reporting having felt the 1.9 at Flathead Lake:
