That was when my phone rang with yet another Major Earthquake, however I had just gotten home from work and by the time I got to the computer this big 2.2 Richters Earthquake just to the south of Escondido came right up and basically just filled the entire area on the map where I generally check to see if there had been any earthquakes! Always wanting to figure out WHERE the epicenter of the earthquake that destroyed Mission Capistrano. . . could a big earthquake in the Escondido Region be the answer? Here's that 2.2:

Now here's that story I promised about how big of a Major Earthquake we could be looking at here. Normally we are accustomed to hearing all about 6, 7, and the occasional 8 Magnitude Earthquakes that strike around the world. . . of course along with a steady supply of 4 or 5 Magnitude ones and the occasional smaller one that strikes somewhere and for whatever reason makes headlines. Smaller ones also routinely account for a lot of aftershocks of Major Earthquakes, too. Additionally there's a slight difference between a Richters Scale and a Magnitude Scale and at least one other scale used to routinely give the size of an earthquake and note that some other countries use yet other scales that sometimes account for the difference in a published size of an earthquake. For my sake I run Richter Scale and Magnitude Scale as more or less interchangeable here although I've heard it said that the Richter Scale is mostly the one current technology endorses for their most modern readings. . . or something like that. Or something like THIS: So you might notice the Mercali Scale goes all the way up to the 12 Range and if I have ever said there was ever a possibility of an earthquake as big as a 11, or 12. . . then it appears I was talking about that scale, although on other occasions I've heard it said that the Richter Scale does NOT necessarily stop at 10, either.
Here's a great story/comment section with some information about the 10, 11, and 12 Richters Earthquakes: https://forum.cosmoquest.org/showthread.php?47919-How-high-can-the-Richter-scale-go

Finally, I know we talked a lot about that earthquake that MIGHT strike during the Monday Night game, and I suppose luckily it struck like an hour or two AFTER the game, but anyways here's the felt report and it looks like there were felt reports from Santa Clara, the location of the stadium and like I recall saying somewhere the stadium probably won't be the epicenter and it wasn't: http://eqalert.blogspot.com/2016/09/35-richters-earthquake-struck-on.html
There was also a 5.2 Richters Earthquake that struck about 80 miles from Tokyo on Tuesday and there were something like 35 felt reports from that city. How that other story ended was the one that rang my phone with the text message was a 5.9 Richters Northern Columbia Earthquake 87 Miles North of Medellin, Columbia and just now checking looks to have been UPGRADED to a 6.0 Richters!!! Watch for More Big Earthquakes, they're striking everywhere!!! EQ Guy
Much more earthquake stuff I wrote all about in My E-Book, "Bringing Earthquakes To Life" @ http://www.eqalert2.blogspot.com Thank-You For Reading!!! EQ Guy
