As the banner headline says there are new alerts now coming for Nepal and Kathmandu as the result of a fairly big Typhoon that crossed onto land near Hong Kong and headed off in the direction of that Tectonic Plate Boundary with the Indian Ocean Tectonic Plate around Bangladesh, parts of China, and India. Of course the big story today is probably Hurricane Harvey nearing landfall at press time somewhere around the Gulf Coast of Texas!!! We'll now have to add about a 7 Magnitude watch for those India Regions along with Philippines. . . and Harvey just hit 100 miles per hour at press time so we know we'll be looking at as much as 7 Richters for California, or somewhere between there, Yellowstone, Canada, and Alaska. Wait for that landfall for more info!!! And possibly this weeks "Earthquake Minute" later today, too!!!
Here is the pic from Hurricane Debra 1959. The remnants of Hurricane Debra 1959 continued on past the end of the dotted line slightly into Idaho and of course came to preceed that BIG Hebgen Lake/Yellowstone Earthquake of 1959!!!
A lot more shaking around Los Angeles with the first two being held over from yesterdays list for a means of comparrison and I never really figured out if any of those Carpenteria Earthquakes were duplicates, but didn't look like it, or do they:

350 Miles Southeast of Providence, RI
464 Miles South of Halifax, Canada

Seriously not thinking that 4.4 could be a foreshock, but did notice the prominent location out there in the middle of a chain of volcanoes just offshore from our East Coast and not actually too far compared to say the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. Hope not a foreshock, hope not a bigger one to follow and with all that is going on I can't actually be sure there isn't something heading in that direction which could affect it, either!
Just noticed as this blog was going to press, Mt. St. Helens has just sustained a DIRECT HIT!!! Albeit a 1.2, this tiny earthquake struck late Thursday DIRECTLY INSIDE of the volcano there!!! So a sign at best that we might need to be keeping an eye on that big volcano with my prediction coming up on August 28 or Monday!!! Keep watching there!!!
