Catalina Island Has Earthquake Strike Nearby!!! ALSO: Some Shaking Near San Simeon Felt In Paso Robles!!! Keep Watching For Earthquakes! New "Earthquake Minute" Now Posted!!!

Just about the time I was nicely all finished catching up on the latest American Idol winner, this bright red spot on the California list of latest earthquakes appeared! Could hardly believe it was right over the top of Catalina Island and was not able to immediately determine the size of the earthquake simply by the size of that big red dot! Well, upon zooming-in. . . found it to be a 3.2 and luckily not a direct hit at Catalina Island, rather a few miles over closer towards Camp Pendleton and would not have been felt up there in Hollywood even though it appears it shook during the final moments of that final show, too! Here's the details:

The date was July 29, 1509 and brother of Christopher Columbus had just been elected as Governor of this island that today we know as Hispaniola. Not sure what the name of the island was at that time, but St. Domingo is still a prominent place there in that day. Hurricane came along that day and 10,000 were killed. Telling the story today because it comes into sharp focus for folks that have been keeping up with the day numbers as possible big one gets near! Well, you can count the number of days before guess what happened next. . . albeit all the way back in the year 1509? That's right! Major Earthquake!!! This time of all places we're talking about Constantinople!!! September 10, 1509! Sure it's half way around the world and can't help but to wonder if anyone even remotely ever thought these connected!!! Well, we did right here at my blog and am here to tell you it was a big earthquake! Looks like Day 43 for folks keeping track there! And in the year 1509!!! Just figured it out. . . it was like 500 years ago!!! Like 507 years to be exact. . . and can honestly tell you the City of Constantineople WOULD have been under a BIG "Earthquake Alert" there!!!
