Latest numbers from Mt. Kilauea, Hawaii are at 23 all day!!!!! Amazingly just 2 at the 2.5 and bigger numbers!!! A check revealed it is now being reported a lot less activity and even sounds like a lot of the lava might just be on the verge of drying up all together. . . if that's the word I'm looking for here today!
Here's some updated information courtesy of the National Park Service: "August 6, 7:18 a.m. The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory reports that eruptive activity has deceased at the Kilauea summit and lower east rift eruption from fissure 8. Seismic activity is low with few felt earthquakes at the summit. Crews overnight in the lower east rift report only glow in fissure 8." and "The significance of this change is not yet clear and hazardous conditions remain in the area. HVO field crews and the UAS team will monitor activity throughout the day and overnight." And MORE: "It is common for eruptions to wax and wane or pause completely. A return to high levels of lava discharge or new outbreaks in the area of active fissures could occur at any time. Residents should remain informed and heed Hawaii County Civil Defense messages and warnings."

In lieu of Typhoon Shanshan nearing landfall at almost exactly this here location near Tokyo, thought I'd run this report of a 4.7 that just struck there a few hours ahead of that landfall which COULD produce a Major Earthquake in that immediate region and very soon possibly right there along with the landfall, too:
4.7 - 40km SE of Hasaki, Japan
2018-08-06 10:56:05 UTC 38.6 km depth
Nearby Places:
Choshi, Japan 40.6 km (25.2 mi) SE
Hasaki, Japan 40.6 km (25.2 mi) SE
Asahi, Japan 54.0 km (33.6 mi) ESE
YĆkaichiba, Japan 61.7 km (38.3 mi) ESE
Chiba, Japan 97.9 km (60.8 mi) East
And now check it out!!! TWO near there! One of these is the above USGS Report, though:
4.6 5km SE of Oami, Japan 2018-08-06 15:10:54
4.7 40km SE of Hasaki, Japan 2018-08-06 05:56
There might have been more going on around L.A. if I would have widened the region, here, but for now these two looked like plenty for todays blog:
1.1 3km NE of Granada Hills, CA 2018-08-06 11:56
2.0 28km E of Santa Barbara Is., CA 2018-08-06 07:13
Some other things I'm watching include Hurricane Hector which should be passing now to the south of Hawaii and does not right at the moment appear it will be any factor in all that's already going on at Hawaii, and Typhoon Shanshan heading directly for Tokyo, Japan where they have just recently had other problems there such as a heatwave and now this storm a CAT-1 is going to strike there mid-week! Problem my best readers already know is earthquakes are virtually certain to become another problem there in the not too distant future, too!!! Along with several other places we're already watching!!!
