Oklahoma Getting Some Shaking, Peru, and Chile, Too!!! Couple of Small Shakers at Ojai, California, and Big Super Typhoon Nears South of Japan!!!!! Friday is Day 14 after Landfall of Hurricane Florence at Wilmington, So Watch SoCal Close For 6 or 7 Richters!!! UPDATE: 7.5 Richter and a Tsunami Has Struck Indonesia!!!!!

UPDATE: 7.5 Richters Plus 19 Other Earthquakes Struck Indonesia Early Friday USA Time and a reportedly 2 Meter Sized Tsunami followed, although footage makes it look more like about a 15 to 20 foot big wave as it rolls across the shoreline, beaches, homes, streets, and the city, there!!! I'll have details in following editions of my EQ Blog. . . NOW Fridays previously written blog:

This Major Tornado Swarm in 1992 Preceded Great Landers, California Earthquake!!! First thing a 170 tornadoes in the central United States, beginning on June 14, 1992, and including an F5 tornado in Chandler, Minnesota and ended June 18. All this was followed on June 28 by the 7.3 Richters Landers Earthquake the shaking of which lasted 2 to 3 minutes, there! At an EF-5 the biggest of those could be two or three hundred mile per hour winds and was on the ground 16 miles up there in Minnesota!!! Then the Landers Earthquake was followed about 3 hours later by a 6.5 Big Bear Lake Earthquake 22 miles to the west. So the Landers Shaker was Day 10 after that EF-5, and Day 14 after the first day of that outbreak. At the same time Friday will be Day 14 after landfall of Hurricane Florence at Wilmington, so let's be aware this possible upcoming 6 or 7 could become the next big Southern California Shaker at any moment, now!!!!!

Shaking is picking up around the Oklahoma Region!!! Watch and see if they don't get one as big as about a 6 this time. . . there's certainly one out there somewhere and Oklahoma could be about due to shake big time, again:

Super Typhoon Trami is getting closer and closer to the Far Southern Coast of Japan right now with winds that had been reported as high as 166 and gusts up to 200 miles per hour!!! Although certain to have slowed before it reaches mainland Japan, these can still be HUGE Windstorms and we'll be watching for the effect this WILL HAVE on the Pacific Tectonic Plate!!! Big Windstorm at shaky Japan will pretty much always equal big earthquakes at other places around the Pacific and California is famous for being one of them!!! Southern California is already on one of my big alerts from landfall of Hurricane Florence and they don't need another one, there!!! Be watching for a lot of big earthquakes. . . because they are out there!!!!!

1.2 Richter Earthquake Struck 3 Miles Northeast of Downtown, San Diego, California!!! Another One Struck Near Antofagasta, Chile, Too!!! And Would You LOOK at The List of All The Shakers Around New Madrid!!!

THIS one actually struck so near to Downtown San Diego that a bigger one would do some damage, there!!! The very thought of a Major Earthquake striking this region or this Big City is a bad thing!!! But they DO get earthquakes and there could very well be one heading directly for this city, too!!!!! Bigger than this 1.2 that is:

There was also a 5.7 Near Fiji Earthquake that actually rang my phone while I was at work on Tuesday Night!!! Although no felt reports ever came in. . . I can now see it would have struck at around 7:37pm Central Time and rang my phone at 7:55pm Tuesday Night just after I finished recording a vocal track and was returning to the "Newsroom" where I do editing on "Promo's" on the computers there!!! Location of that epicenter was 125 Miles Southeast of Vanua Levu, Fiji, too. So lots of things shaking including Antofagasta, New Madrid Region and am sorry to say SAN DIEGO!!!!! Be watching because BIG Earthquakes are due to strike!!!!!

Full Moon Window Will Continue To Run Through Tuesday as Far North Alaska Still Seems To Be Getting Lots of Shaking, and a 5.4 Richters Earthquake Struck Bristol Island/Sandwich Islands As We Continue To Watch Chile!!!

Large number of earthquakes still seem to be hitting that far North Alaska Epicenter, with upwards of a lot when I zoomed-out to seven days, but here's just those of 2.5 and bigger from the last 24 hours, there:

Noticed after I had already published the story about that South Carolina Earthquake in yesterdays EQ Blog, that I had not posted the great pic that I borrowed from somewhere of Epicenter of South Carolina Earthquake and now here it is with all the major cities circled, and I drew a line about sort of where Hurricane Florence crossed that region. . . and of course we all know by now that small earthquake struck right very close to where Florence crossed, but watch that region for BIGGER Shakers, still:

Note the epicenter of the "Great Charleston Earthquake" of the 1800's is right there at Charleston, too!!!!!

We're still watching around Chile, too, and so here's that running list now with the 5.4 Antofagasta Shaker and will update, too, although NO more shaking to update. 5.4 Richters Struck Antofagasta, Chile Over The Weekend!!!

This story will be next and the report on the biggest one at a 5.4 is the next story after this one. Here's all of them at this Antofagasta Epicenter, exactly where we're watching although for a MUCH BIGGER Major Earthquake than a 5.4 if I may say so:

This is where the 3.7 Richters Earthquake struck near Maui, Hawaii, and here's where I discussed it a few days or so before it struck there as Hurricane Olivia was just making landfall there, too!!! ~~~~~Hurricane Florence made landfall at Wilmington, North Carolina on September 14, 2018 and I routinely track such big windstorms to where I hypothesize the epicenter of a Major Earthquake might strike. Since on this occasion it comes out to be California, I'm submitting an "Official Prediction" to the California Earthquake Prediction Evaluation Council today to that effect.

OFFICIAL PREDICTION FOR SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA TO GET ONE OR MORE EARTHQUAKES OF 5 OR 6 ON THE RICHTER SCALE BEFORE NOVEMBER 29, 2018

The reason I'm predicting "One or More" today is due to the fact that when Hurricane Florence made landfall at Wilmington, North Carolina, the speed at which it was moving was 3 miles per hour. As a result of such slow, slow walking speed movement it took days for Hurricane Florence to track all across the Carolina Region and today I'm writing to say I am expecting this same sort of long period of probably some rather big earthquakes to shake, and shake, and shake the opposite side of the North American Tectonic Plate or the Los Angeles and Southern California Region.

A special note regarding the segment of the San Andreas Fault, near San Bernardino, where a Major Earthquake has long been expected. This segment is today directly in line for this New Major Earthquake Energy to cross, however Hurricane Florence did turn just enough southerly in its course that the full brunt of this alert could strike anywhere between there and the Tijuana, and Northern Mexico Region. Also that mystery segment sort of faces a slightly different direction in such a way that this one WILL NOT exactly intersect with it like it would need to release all that energy they're waiting for. It actually looks more like Puente Hills, Whittier, maybe Hollywood for that region.

The region where Hurricane Florence made landfall at around North Carolina, and South Carolina itself is also a "Shaky Place" and might also expect earthquake activity, but probably not the menace we'll be awaiting for in California. Along with the Carolinas, Tennessee, and Southern Illinois/New Madrid Regions could shake, too, and the line will ultimately cross Texas, and Oklahoma where all of these should be far bigger than the mostly "Garden Variety" ones they can sometimes get, there.

The New Alerts for all of these regions will run beyond all the shaking they should be getting or fully until the last days of November 2018 and Day 76 after the date Hurricane Florence made landfall at Wilmington.

It will now be 25 years I've been tracking such big windstorm/earthquake combinations which started on the day of the Northridge Earthquake in 1994 when while checking I discovered the Great World Series-Loma Prieta Earthquake of October 17, 1989 had been preceded by landfall of Hurricane Hugo at Charleston!!! After that I went on to write alerts to friends in Hollywood when other big windstorms would strike, saying an earthquake could follow and that started immediately that summer when Hurricane John made a near landfall at Johnston Atoll and was then followed by a Northern California Earthquake near Cape Mendocino at around a 7. While I was working in Los Angeles in 1999 was when Hurricane Bret made landfall at around Brownsville, Texas and after alerting my neighbors out there and everybody, the now great Hector Mines Earthquake struck there and I was shook up in my Hollywood Apartment there and aftershocks, too!!! Upon landfall last year of Hurricane Harvey at Texas, a huge swarm then struck Idaho and continued on a considerable amount of time, there, and after landfall of Hurricane Maria at Puerto Rico in spite of a major prediction for San Francisco no Major Earthquakes ever showed up along my "Straight-Line" although Hurricane Irma made landfall at Barbuda on September 6, and Oaxaca, Mexico got an 8.2 Magnitude on September 7, 2017

Also note Hurricane Olivia made landfall at Maui, Hawaii on September 12, 2018 and was immediately followed on September 15, 2018 at 5:55am Central Time by a 3.7 Richter Earthquake about 40 miles Southwest of that Island. Also Super Typhoon Mangkhut had 200 mph winds when it made landfall at the Philippines on September 14, 2018 and still big winds at landfall near Hong Kong on September 16 and the two combined will be producing some tremendously major earthquake energy that will be striking different places throughout the term of this O.P. but Antofagasta, and Tocopilla do not fall under the jurisdiction of the Councils, nor does Banda Aceh.

So, it looks like some big time shaking will be a relatively sure thing around those different parts of California and the rest of the Country and Thank-You, Again for accepting my earthquake related submissions, Sirs!!!

Here's the ones that I discussed yesterday the ringing of my phone beginning with a 5.8 Southwest Indian Ridge that rang at 2:47am my time, then a 5.8 Solomon Islands rang at 7:17am, and finally a 5.5 Fiji Earthquake rang it at 7:58am!!! Like I said all good sized, but at 5.8, 5.5, and 5.8 none did any damage aside from waking me up at 2:47am and 7:58am is like 2 minutes before my alarm anyways!!! So it sure WAS a lot of shaking for those early morning hours and I knew one thing for sure, phone HAD been basically ringing practically the whole night with earthquakes!!!

Then, as far as the discussion about New Zealand went yesterday, aside from a lot of them that shook in the Fiji Region in recent days, I discarded all those to bring you just the ones that said New Zealand and here they are:

Now Looks Like Southern California Could Get a Days Long Series of Major Earthquakes Around The 5 to 6 Richters Range!!! Could Shake For Same Amount of Time Hurricane Florence Shook Carolina's!!! And a New Pacifica Earthquake Minute All About That!

There had been quite a lot of earthquakes coming to my phone in the last 24 hours or so since I wrote yesterdays EQ Blog! Seems like it rang many times during the night last night and although none really worth writing much about, mostly in the 5 range and although it looks like some shaking now around New Zealand that I will look into and cover in my next edition!!!

My latest line of reasoning for around the Los Angeles/San Andreas Fault Region is that WHEN it does begin to shake there, it should go on, and on, and on with some fairly big earthquakes. . . for quite a few days!!! Going to be bigger than just those one's and two's they get sometimes! This series could go as high as 5's and 6 Richter Earthquakes that could shake there for several days!!! Possibly something like 5 or 6 on the Richter Scale shaking many times a day for at least the several days Hurricane Florence shook the Carolina's!!! They say people can "Hear" the sound of the wind blow as a big earthquake is shaking so be watching for that if you're out there, because it just might be the sound of Hurricane Florence!!!!!

Just went and checked and found that Day 52 will be on September 17, 2018 and leaves us with a little while to go on this alert, but update: two new towns in Chile now added due to Typhoon Mangkhut. . . and now ALL this brand-new Major Earthquake Energy beginning to go who knows where!!! And very near Perth, or the exact region the 5.3 struck there over the weekend! Right straight through there and no other apparent reason they should be shaking there, too!!! So this will now be the line we'll be watching to strike Los Angeles and 5.3 aint a bad number to keep in mind as we prepare for the Next Big California Earthquake!!! 6.5 Richters Fiji Region Earthquake With So Far ONE Felt Report In, From "Wallis And Futuna"!!! Along With Landfall of Super Typhoon Mangkhut at Philippines, 13 Earthquakes Struck Nearby During That Landfall, Too!!!

This one must have come in on Sunday Afternoon and I never noticed my phone message while I was at the beach!!! So as soon as I got home couldn't believe this one on the list of latest in red!!! There's a big entire list of several in this region, too, along with the next story, and all combined means Super Typhoon Mangkhut is going to bring BIG EARTHQUAKES!!!

Although it says "13 Struck In Between" it was actually 13 total, so 11 would have actually struck in between those as you can see on that above list you know.

Finally while everything else is going on, just found out Day 52 on alert for Iquique/Santiago/Valparaiso is Tuesday this week so even with that, we'll need to keep a watch there a while and could still go as high as 8 Magnitude.

There will certainly be some big alerts, but it's so late right now and press time, that I'll just tell you the Carolinas are most probably due for a FAIRLY big earthquake from landfall there of Hurricane Florence, and lots of rain has always been a factor, too, even in California. . . so it's really just a matter of how big and how soon for them, but 2, 3, and 4 to begin with are very likely, remember that 5.8 Virginia Earthquake, like that one!!! Philippines and Taiwan and that China Region will be a MASSIVE EARTHQUAKE to watch for any moment, but bulk of that biggest alert for them will probably run into October. As I discussed in todays EQ Blog there's already plenty of signs of shaking to come!!! Lots of other places I'll get those alerts together and begin to discuss them tomorrow!!! For now be watching because unfortunately it's time for Major Earthquakes!!!!!

Big Landfall of Hurricane Florence at Wilmington, North Carolina Early Friday Now Mean Possible Major Earthquakes and For Some Places in The Southern and Southwestern USA!!! Taipei, Taiwan About To Get DIRECT HIT of 172 to 207 Miles Per Hour Winds of Super Typhoon Mangkhut!!!

Sorry to have to report this, but it looks like it's going to be time for some really bad earthquakes!!! Immediate alerts should go out (My own personal alerts, that it) for them areas around North and South Carolina where earthquakes TEND to occasionally hit, there, you know!!! And also right at the moment is where Hurricane Florence is making landfall or has made landfall and will be moving on, but moving on to even more places where they also get earthquakes!!! Tennessee, Kentucky, and Ohio also places where an earthquake can strike and as of this event happening right now those places could get them!!! If the landfall turns out like it was predicted, I have already run the straight-line on this and most unfortunately runs straight through Ft. Worth, Texas which means Oklahoma could become a factor in all this, and continues on to the Southern California Region!!!

Note that I scooted that straight-line up just a tiny bit to more clearly see those names, but full landfall hasn't exactly been determined at press time, too.

Also looking really bad for Taipei, Taiwan!!!!! With huge winds there around 170 mph and Gusts around 200!!! Not only will they be getting a lot of high winds possibly AT the city of Taipei, but they're also a very "Shaky" Place. . . and so we virtually KNOW they'll be getting earthquakes!!! Along with a future landfall at China and all combined equal still more earthquakes!!!

Landfall of Hurricane Florence Now Very Near!!! North Carolina!!! Hurricane Olivia Made Landfall at Hawaii on Wednesday, Too!!! BIG Super Typhoon Mangkhut Now Heading DIRECTLY For Taipai, Taiwan!!!!! LOTS of Earthquakes Could Now Be Coming!!!!!

Looks like they went and downgraded that 4.3 Charlotte Amalie, Virgin Islands Earthquake of late Tuesday and now it is this 3.8 and although the felt report went up from what it was in yesterdays blog, and here it is now at well over 50!!! Methinks it was around 41 yesterday and several from Puerto Rico, too:

Reason I'm posting this borrowed drawing from the Meteorology People, there, is because if this turn DOES HAPPEN, would you look out ahead and see where the earthquake might strike!!! I'm talking about the opposite end of the North American Tectonic Plate, there!!!

Also note Hurricane Olivia made it's landfall at Hawaii on Wednesday, although not certain what those windspeeds might have been at the time, they had struck the nearby shallower waters and we could still be watching Hawaii to get some of the resultant possible shaking!!! Some of THOSE places haven't shook in a while, either!!! Change in direction for now Super Typhoon Mangkhut. . . looks like a direct hit on Taipai, Taiwan!!!!! And landfall expected during the day on Thursday and into Thursday Night for Hurricane Florence!!!

As Hurricane Issac Travels Near The Caribbean, a 4.3 Just Came In at Charlotte Amalie, Virgin Islands!!! Lots of Felt Reports So Far, Too!!! Things Are Already Shaking, Watch Out For Hurricane Florence When THAT Landfall Strikes The East Coast!!!!!

As we wait for the latest on that BIG upcoming landfall of Hurricane Florence along our East Coast and what will become of Hurricane Olivia at Maui and Oahu, Hawaii, I want to also note there is a big Typhoon that made landfall yesterday at Guam and is headed for Philippines!!! Along with Hurricane Issac, might be a Tropical Storm but headed across the Caribbean where just a 4.3 Struck near Charlotte Amalie so far with 43 felt reports, and I'll have more updates on all that in future editions. Now I decided it might be time to report my mom is currently a visitor in the Temecula, California area at Pechanga Casino!!! It is because of her visiting out there until Friday, I'm now going to run this special list of JUST those small earthquakes striking that region and even edited out the tiniest of them! I noticed a few around the New Madrid Region along with Tennessee. . . all possibly something to do with a lot of Hurricanes coming!!! These two I had never heard of before to the west of New Madrid:

Along that lines I also noticed STILL quite a lot of shaking at far Northern Alaska and when I Zoomed-Out found that the original 6.2 or 6.3 there was now about a month ago at August 12, 2017, however I also found that the number of earthquakes at 2.5 and bigger in those now 30 days is 914, and surely far more for all sizes, too!!! Likewise the number of earthquakes ALL sized in the last 7 days was 318 and the ones I noticed while I was routinely checking at press time like I normally always do was the fact that 42 earthquakes of all sizes that struck that region JUST in the last 24 hours!!! So they've been going like this apparently since I last reported and I'd say should have stopped by now, but here's JUST todays 2.5 and bigger there:

This could become real bad news for somebody along our West Coast, not to mention the fact that it looks like Hurricane Florence could make a very serious landfall along our East Coast somewhere soon!!! Just the fact that it's coming is bad enough and they get good sized earthquakes even along that region where it's headed, but be watching the opposite side of the North American Tectonic Plate for MAJOR EARTHQUAKES as this one nears the eastern edge of the North American Tectonic Plate!!! And watch Hawaii as Hurricane Olivia nears there, too, and especially if it's those shallow waters having an effect on it not to mention a major landfall because then we'll also have to watch Hawaii for earthquakes. . . again, too!!!

The 6.2 Ecuador Earthquake struck about 50 miles east of Guayaquil, 50 miles south of Riobamba, and about 145 miles south of Quito, Ecuador and since it struck rather late on Thursday, the felt reports will continue to come in through Friday and I'll basically deal with that later although it's at 97 with 19 from Quito and several from Peru. . . I'll post it when it settles down, there, for now here's the USGS on it:

Death toll in Hokkaido Japan at scene of the 6.6 is now 16 with 26 missing as they're digging through rubble after several landslides to find missing.

Looks like the forecast on Hurricane Florence, aside from the fact that it's also being called a Tropical Storm now due to flucuations in I suppose the highest wind speeds, forecast is saying it should strengthen again like over this weekend as it approaches Bermuda. So, spaghetti continues to have the Outer Banks of North Carolina, Virginai and New Jersey directly in its path!!! It appears very much still possible to make it to our East Coast no matter how much is left of it and with all due respect for all the other spaghetti's I've run those great drawings of such as todays. . . could this lead to a big East Coast Earthquake? One in line with all that spaghetti? Watch for that as we wait to see into next week what Hurricane/T.S. Florence might do!!!

All the shaking that happened seems to have pre-empted a lot of other good stuff I might have had prepared for todays edition. . . or not, anyways hope I didn't miss any earthquakes because there sure were a lot of them with phone ringing off and on about all day with earthquakes!!!!! And I know 8.1 Fiji hardly got a mention, but with all due respect for the folks in Japan they really shook and it hit rather near some populated regions and has certainly caused damage, injuries, and death, there, and will surely be the subject of this weeks edition of "Earthquake Minute" so tune-in!!!!! And watch for a lot more shaking and more hurricanes and typhoons with the season underway big time!!! Lots more earthquakes coming, too, you know!!!
