7.7 Richters Earthquake Shakes Near New Ireland Island, PNG!!! And Many More Out There, Too! The Indio/Australian Tectonic Plate IS MOVING!!!!! Updated!!!

UPDATE: Now in addition to the 7.7 this blog is all about, there have been 6.4 and 6.5 half-hour apart at Tonga actually to the other side of Vanuatu where we've been watching felt in Pado Pago, American Samoa, too! ALSO: 4.0 Richters just outside of Barstow, California very near epicenter of Landers and Hector Mines Earthquakes there felt in Newberry Springs, Victorville, and Mission Viejo. NOW Todays EQ Blog with all the rest of todays Earthquake News:

This one occurred at around 6:45pm Central Time on Sunday Night, a 7.7 downgraded to 7.6 Earthquake near the island of New Ireland at Papua New Guinea and 30 miles southeast of a town by the name of Kokopo.

One report said the ground shook strongly for about five minutes but there does not appear to be any major damage. Waves of 50 Centimeters struck after the earthquake and it looks like this smallish tsunami followed and most notably I see Vanuatu on that list, of course that is going to also include New Zealand and all the other small islands with waves of 1 foot for Japan, Australia, the Philippines, Indonesia and Hawaii, with 3 to 10 foot waves possible for Papua New Guinea's coastlines more near the epicenter.

Here's the PTWC Alert that I "Re-Tweeted" earlier on late Sunday Night @ http://ptwc.weather.gov/text.php?id=pacific.TSUPAC.2015.03.30.0025

So as of this writing the big one is at the bottom and the most recent at the top and these are all the earthquakes over there around the Indio/Aust. Tectonic Plate since it has now begun to move late Sunday:

5.3 116km SSW of Taron, Papua New Guinea 2015-03-29 23:16:13
4.7 94km S of Taron, Papua New Guinea 2015-03-29 21:23:21
5.0 144km W of Ile Hunter, New Caledonia 2015-03-29 21:12:47
4.7 69km SSE of Taron, Papua New Guinea 2015-03-29 20:51:24
4.8 25km S of Garcia Hernandez, Philippines 2015-03-29 20:47:57
5.4 29km NW of Qimeng, China 2015-03-29 20:47:35
5.0 78km SSW of Taron, Papua New Guinea 2015-03-29 19:43:13
5.7 91km SSW of Taron, Papua New Guinea 2015-03-29 19:15:30
7.5 55km SE of Kokopo, Papua New Guinea 2015-03-29 18:48:31

ALSO: Note that a 5.0 at Caledonia very near Vanuatu and noticably right along the line where Cyclone Pam brushed all those islands. This one struck at 12 Minutes after 9pm Central Time in the USA and now never mind because I see it is the third one from the top on the above list.

This story up to this point has been mostly all about the fact that in the wake of that Super Cyclone Pam landfall at Vanuatu, there has been a lot of movement of the Pacific Tectonic Plate but it seems up to this point NO movement of the Australian Tectonic Plate (Or Indio/Aust.) NOW as of the earthquakes we are now looking at. . . and a 4.5 that struck at Southeast Indian Ridge over the weekend, too, it's very much now moving! In fact it's now old news, but the 4.5 was going to be a big part of this EQ Blog that you're reading right now! Reason, because it is that region out there past Australia where we routinely watch for a sign that is where some of the first movement is usually detected along with Macquarie Island which preceded the Great Sumatra Earthquake! Don't get me wrong Sunday Nights 7.7 could easily become the next biggest earthquake to precede a HUGE Earthquake/Tsunami Event. . . because there could still be one coming!!! Keep Watching New Zealand, and watch California and our West Coast especially!!! Of course along with many other shaky places that could be affected in the coming hours before the April Full Moon on Friday!!! Be Prepared!!! EQ Guy
