UPDATE. . . as you can imagine lots of coverage due to ALL those news reporters already being staged AT this town where and so much more will be reported, but for now this epicenter continues to shake big time!!! THIS 7.1 and all, including a 5.5 just as I'm typing this, will continue and chance of even BIGGER one, too!!! Damage now being reported and I'll have details in later editions of my EQ Blog. California was struck by a huge 6.6 Richters Earthquake that was apparently downgraded to a 6.4 and so we'll go on to refer to this big one as a 6.4 and epicenter near Ridgecrest just north of Barstow and border of Mojave Desert. I've traveled this region many times and especially enjoy small nearby town of Trona, famous for small railroad there and salt mines or whatever kind of mines they have, maybe borax? There are still a few people up that way just the same and hope the best for them all as this edition goes to press! I can try to have an update as Fridays "Earthquake Minute" comes near!!! Right now as the banner headline says something like 48,880 felt reports and over 500 aftershocks and all will continue along with the chance a really big one. . . or different epicenter could be yet to come!!! If you're reading in a shaky place do some "Earthquake Preparation" such as fill a couple empty bottles with water, or find a few tools, hammer, pick-ax, and have them around at least, along with gas in car and batteries in flashlights.
Felt in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Seattle, Vancouver, Golden Colorado, Green River Wyoming, Ogden and Bountiful Utah, Tucson Arizona and Winnemuca Nevada!!! I'll have that whole list as soon as all the information settles, for now be aware more shaking is to come and as I said with "Eureka 2010", movement of North American Tectonic Plate could come to affect some other regions and that was January 9, 2010. . . with the Haiti Earthquake striking a few days later on January 12, 2010!!! Be Watching!!! Now a few other things I had been paying attention to in addition to:
6.2 Just north of Vancouver Island, Canada on Wednesday felt in Billings, Montana and Anchorage which I knew meant there was still some Major Earthquake Energy out there to come!!!
