3.4 Richters Near Epicenter of World Series Earthquake!!! 55 Felt Reports From Gilroy!!!

Although there was also a 6.1 Richters Earthquake that struck very, very near that epicenter of the recent 8.1 Richters Iquique, Chile Earthquake, the 3.4 Richters Earthquake that struck just a few miles east of the epicenter of the 1989 World Series Earthquake just seemed like it might be a little more urgent to post here on Mondays EQ Blog! Let's start with the felt report short enough to print all of it right here:

City...Zip.....CA.....USA...........................................#.....Km
Aromas (95004) CA, United States of America......... 1.....19 km
Fremont (94555) CA, United States of America.........1.....84 km
Gilroy (95020) CA, United States of America.............55.....10 km
Hollister (95023) CA, United States of America..........7.....23 km
Morgan Hill (95037) CA, United States of America.....14.....24 km
Mountain View (94040) CA, United States of America...1.....71 km
Penngrove (94951) CA, United States of America.......1....181 km
San Jose (95120) CA, United States of America........1.....41 km
San Juan Bautista (95045) CA, USA.........................1.....15 km
San Martin (95046) CA, United States of America......4.....18 km
San Ramon (94583) CA, United States of America.....1.....99 km
Sunnyvale (94087) CA, United States of America.......1.....65 km
Watsonville (95076) CA, United States of America.....2.....26 km

Probably the biggest thing I noticed about that felt report above was the fact that there appeared to be NO reports from Santa Cruz? I thought how could these two be that similar when there are 55 reports from Gilroy? 14 from Morgan Hill? And 2 From Watsonville. . . until I figured out the epicenter of Sundays shaker was that many miles to the EAST of Gilroy making it probably a grand total of more than 40 miles east of Santa Cruz or barely if at all felt there. Here is the map showing the epicenter of the World Series/Loma Prieta Earthquake @ http://tinyurl.com/worldseriesepicenter And the epicenter of Sundays 3.4 can be found basically 17 Miles East (East Northeast) of Watsonville very near that intersection of California Highways 152 and 156 along 152 East of that intersection. So, are we saying another Loma Prieta Earthquake could be coming???

AND For anybody who might have been asking about the felt report for that 6.1 Iquique, Chile Earthquake there is only one city to report, but 9 reports and here's that:
Iquique, Tarapacá, Chile............................9.....42 km

So, are we watching for another 8.1 Magnitude Chile Earthquake any time soon? Well, it does look like the epicenter of Sunday Nights 6.1 was about 45 Miles West of the 8.2, but I do have to warn that July 24 and July 27 are Day 40 and 43 after landfall of Hurricane Cristina at Socorro Island with 150 mph winds and my sheet suggests a 7.6 may still be coming as a result! Also July 15 is Day 43 after landfall of Tropical Storm Boris and that means Texas and Oklahoma should still watch a few more days, but that could also be the one for Illinois, Chicago and Iceland! A few more days there yet for them to watch and it seems like some shaking is likely up that way yet, too!

Meanwhile we will now have to watch Anchorage very closely for Earthquake Energy from Typhoon Neoguri and I suppose Hokkaido Island, Japan a while, yet, too as if that 6.5 wasn't enough on Saturday! That alert will also extend over towards Queen Charlotte Island and that Western Canada Region and the landfall of Hurricane Arthur is the alert for Montego Bay, Jamaica and Honduras as well as Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Kazakstan at around 6.6 Richters. Still a few Major Earthquakes out there, Keep Watching!!! EQ Guy
