There had also been a previous 5.5 very near the 6.7 Epicenter on February 11, 2015 and all told it could be about due for the next Very Major Earthquake in that region! I went out ahead and did some quick research to see what those numbers looked like and they will follow, first the two felt reports that I thought most important:

Now for the latest on what all is going on in the World of Earthquakes!!! You may recall yesterdays EQ Blog where I said there MIGHT be a reason for concern with all the snow in Boston and whether I said it or not I knew Chile had gotten a Major Earthquake under these same conditions a few years ago and having looked it up can now say it was February 27, 2010!!! Here's what I located about that whole earthquake:
"Chile earthquake of 2010, severe earthquake that occurred on February 27, 2010, off the coast of south-central Chile, causing widespread damage on land and initiating a tsunami that devastated some coastal areas of the country. Together, the earthquake and tsunami were responsible for more than 500 deaths. Magnitude-8.8 earthquake struck at 3:34 am. The epicentre was located some 200 miles southwest of the Chilean capital of Santiago. . . rupture of a 300- to 375-mile stretch of the fault that separates the South American Plate from the subducting Nazca Plate—was felt as far away as São Paolo, Brazil, and Buenos Aires, Argentina." On a somewhat different subject that I will be talking more about in the future. . . the anniversary of the first Major Aftershock of the Great Sumatra Earthquake will be coming up, too!!! With that, there probably will be some major shakers coming and it is especially concerning that the 8.8 Richters Chile Earthquake would have to be the example that I chose to use for a demonstration!!! This could be what ends up happening although I always like to say there does not seem to be anywhere near that amount of "Potential Earthquake Energy" roaming the globe right at the moment so hopefully NOT an 8.8!!!
