Another 6.2 Richters Earthquake Struck North of New Zealand!!! Also a 5.3 Struck The Northern Mid-Atlantic Ridge, Too!!! Still That Alert For California, Now, Too!!! Update: Fridays Edition of "Earthquake Minute"!!!

UPDATE: Here's a link to Fridays "Earthquake Minute" Transcript: NOW Fridays EQ Blog:

Now that I've gone and introduced this one first in the banner headline, I'll just leave it right here at the top of todays stories even though the big 6.2 New Zealand Earthquake was a bigger one!!! Check out the list of "Nearby Places" and tell me if that Portugal one isn't the Azore Islands:

5.3 - Northern Mid-Atlantic Ridge
2017-06-30 01:34 UTC

Nearby Places:
Ribeira Grande, Portugal 1028.5 km (639.1 mi) WSW
Mount Pearl, Canada 1935.9 km (1202.9 mi) SE
St. John's, Canada 1936.1 km (1203.1 mi) SSE

Now two of these have shaken this same general region and on this particular one from early Thursday, it's listed a lot of places in New Zealand, most notably Auckland!!!

6.0 - 115km WNW of L'Esperance Rock, New Zealand, 2017-06-29 07:03
Nearby Places
Ngunguru, New Zealand 712.6 km (442.8 mi) NE
Whangarei, New Zealand 733.0 km (455.5 mi) NE
North Shore, New Zealand 793.9 km (493.3 mi) NE
Auckland, New Zealand 798.7 km (496.3 mi) NE

Thought it looked like just a little bit more shaking up around Truckee, California where we're watching for a little something to maybe shake. . . but actually that first 2.5 was listed in yesterdays list and even if you consider the fact that I removed several tiny ones it's still not too much more shaking at Truckee! Although the update just added a 2.1 there around 5pm my time:

2.1 20km NW of Truckee, California 2017-06-29 17:05
1.4 20km NW of Truckee, California 2017-06-29 00:45
0.6 20km NW of Truckee, California 2017-06-28 13:19
2.5 20km NW of Truckee, California 2017-06-28 11:24

Finally as I mentioned yesterday, it's probably worth noting that the movement we're watching of the North American Tectonic Plate WILL mean California could get some shaking!!! Yes, I've been all the talk about Illinois, Missouri, and even Oklahoma getting a lot of this. . . but when all New Moon Shaking got a going especially in Yellowstone I decided it was time to start talking about California!!! So, we're talking about California!!! Could shake, maybe this weekend, but shouldn't be all that big if it does at around a 5!!! Good Holiday Weekend, Everybody!!! EQ Guy
