7.8 Richters Earthquake Struck Ecuador Saturday!!!!! 7.0 Struck South Japan on Friday, Too!!! Watch Around The Pacific For MORE SHAKING!!!

There has been a 7.8 Richters Earthquake Saturday evening at Ecuador at a depth of 11.9 miles that struck about a hundred miles north of the capital of Quito, Ecuador. It has been a very busy weekend with a lot of earthquakes and as you can imagine tons of information on this latest earthquake that in addition to all of the shaking at South of Japan on Friday. . . of course the biggest at 7.0 and variously reported at 7.2 and 7.3 as well. While Japan is currently a little bit quieting down now as I'm writing this, Ecuador is by far the biggest news and here's all that:

7.8 - 27km SSE of Muisne, Ecuador

105 Miles WNW of Quito, Ecuador

Here's the felt report from 7.8 Ecuador at Earthquake Central@

Here's a great illustration that I located and borrowed from an earlier EQ Blog! It's Fiji where Cyclone Winston made landfall with drawings of where those lines were expected to be going, curved to represent the use of the globe:
You might also like to know that those three lines that head from Fiji over towards Ecuador/Columbia had been re-calibrated prior to this drawing and then came out much farther north of Riobamba. I'll try to go into more detail on this later in the week because as of this writing now it's about one of my new favorite illustrations to discuss!!!

Got a retweet on an old Twitter message dated March 15 if anybody cares to scroll back to find it, but here's the link to the EQ Blog page it's referring to with regards to New Prediction for "Riobamba, Ecuador at 7.8 Richters" explained@

We (Previously intended to) start todays EQ Blog off with that felt report from the 7.0 Richters Kumamoto Earthquake @

Nobody ever really explained this one, but A small eruption occurred at Mt. Aso in southern Japan on Saturday around 8:30 a.m., following that 7.0 Richters Earthquake nearby, with smoke rising about 100 meters high and there was much discussion as to WHETHER is was connected to all the shaking? Since you're now reading it here. . . methinks you probably already know the answer to that one!!! Story @

Now, finally one more chance to take a look at This Weeks 7.0 Japan "Earthquake Minute"!!! Although it was recorded before the Ecuador Earthquake! CLICK Arrow: Watch 7.0 Japan "Earthquake Minute" Now at YouTube@ TRANSCRIPT @

Like I say in the above video and I'll say it again right here and now. . . we'll probably need to keep watching that now very suspicious movement of the Pacific Tectonic Plate!!! With it having started with 7.8 Indonesia, big Japan Earthquake and then 7.8 Ecuador there could now be more in the range of 7.8 coming! That will include more PNG/Indonesia/Japan and possibly that big one with a tsunami, yet! Maybe California, too! Be Watching and be prepared!!! EQ Guy

There's a lot of my very best earthquake stuff in My E-Book, "Bringing Earthquakes To Life" @ Thank-You For Reading!!! EQ Guy

In the event you're reading this because you heard "Earthquake Minute" on one of the big Radio Networks somewhere, I have a page with all my "Bio Information" from my EQ Radio Show@ and it will have a lot of answers and some of my best stuff! Thank-You For Listening, Too!!! EQ Guy
