UPDATE: There was also now a 7.0 at Japan in addition to all the ones already described in todays EQ Blog. . . but first take a look at This Weeks 7.0 Japan "Earthquake Minute"!!! CLICK Arrow: Watch 7.0 Japan "Earthquake Minute" Now at YouTube@ TRANSCRIPT @ . . .NOW Fridays previously written EQ Blog:

I haven't actually checked what order these all happened to have struck in but know for sure from all the write-ups that the following list is at least what order the South Japan Earthquake struck in with that now big 6.2 shaking first:

6.2 7km SW of Ueki, Japan 2016-04-14 07:26:36
5.4 8km E of Kumamoto-shi, Japan 2016-04-14 08:07:35
4.8 8km SSW of Matsubase, Japan 2016-04-14 07:42:25
4.8 4km E of Uto, Japan 2016-04-14 08:38:43
4.8 1km W of Uto, Japan 2016-04-14 08:22:19
4.9 1km ESE of Kumamoto-shi, Japan 2016-04-14 09:43:41
6.0 5km E of Uto, Japan 2016-04-14 10:03:47
5.3 6km S of Kumamoto-shi, Japan 2016-04-14 10:06:22
4.9 12km SSE of Kumamoto-shi, Japan 2016-04-14 11:53:02

In fact that above list is taken from the very latest USGS information and there is even the possibility that it will not be an exact match for all the news stories I've just quoted which appear to have the two biggest shakers there at 6.5 and 6.2! While this here above latest list has them as a 6.0 followed by a 6.2 and that is most likely the process of both having been downgraded or something like that you know! In any case lots and lots of shaking, quite a lot of damage there and at least nine people have died so far as of this writing.

Here's the Felt Report from the biggest of all those there:

Mashiki, Kumamoto, Japan.................1......19 km

Vanuatu have been shaken by a powerful 6.5 magnitude earthquake. Vanuatu, which continues to recover from the devastating Cyclone Pam a year ago, reported no immediate damage or casualties. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) measured Friday's earthquake at a preliminary 6.5 and estimated that some 183,000 people on nearby islands may have felt the shaking, including some 2,000 people who may have experienced "moderate" to "strong" shaking. The earthquake, which was initially measured at 7.2 before it was downgraded to 6.9, prompted both the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center and the Vanuatu Meteorology and Geo-Hazards Department to issue a tsunami alert for coastal areas of Vanuatu. No tsunami resulted from these earthquakes though. Authorities in Vanuatu evacuated coastal areas in the provinces of Torba, Sanma, Penama and Malampa, but the National Disaster Management Office said no tsunami activity had been observed. "It is now safe for the people to return to their places of residence," the meteorology department said in an advisory.

As I was editing this edition of my EQ Blog it occurred to me this might be a good time to mention last weeks "Earthquake Minute" where I discussed the fact that I once said "The good news is Cyclone Winston MISSED Vanuatu. . . but the Bad News is the earthquakes that follow will probably be HITTING Vanuatu!!!!!" Here's that vid at YouTube@

The other big one that I want to mention today is the 4.4 Richters that struck Ecuador and is most notable for appearing to be just over 50 miles now from one of the potential epicenters we're watching in that region or Riobamba, Ecuador! Here is now the entire list of them that have shook there as we now continue to watch there for the big one!!!

4.4 46km SE of Palora, Ecuador 2016-04-14 18:24:01
4.9 13km ENE of Murindo, Colombia 2016-04-11 04:29:29
4.9 78km SE of Yantzaza, Ecuador 2016-04-09 02:15:12
4.5 36km ESE of Riosucio, Colombia 2016-04-08 04:11:43

So, Friday will now be Day 55 after that big landfall of Cyclone Winston at Fiji and it's certainly looking like we'll more than need to watch through Day 60 as well as with the full moon window starting on April 20 or Wednesday this week now, too!!!

Could be a very serious problem with all that shaking on the far west side of the Pacific. . . because it could mean there's going to be some shaking now on the far EAST side of the Pacific!!! That's all the places we're now watching so be prepared because it looks like that's what could happen or probably IS going to happen and very soon, too!!! Felt Report From that 7.0 Kumamoto Earthquake is now in at Earthquake Central@ EQ Guy
