Having to search over and over to try and locate the actual magnitude of this huge national emergency looking Major Earthquake will take me some time and probably into an already very busy Monday Labor Day Holiday! By the looks of it this must have been about a 7.5 Richters earthquake! That is judging by the names of the towns on the felt report when compared to the two maps that I lined up next to one another in order to view both the epicenter of this earthquake and the Capital city that was said to have been destroyed. That town name is Nahrin and one report has it listed as the district capital for the area, although when lined up next to the map with the epicenter prominently displayed it looks like that small town must have been about 75 miles from the epicenter and therefore this earthquake would have had to have been more than 6 Richters as stated in this story here: http://www.foxnews.com/world/2014/08/31/magnitude-6-earthquake-jolts-pakistan/
AND as usual my very first notice received from the USGS says something like a 5 or 6 Richters, although that does not appeaar possible due to the following felt reports:

Having now checked the above list against the maps, I have discovered that Kabul is actually over 100 miles from the epicenter!!! That makes this about a 7 Richters earthquake, although a large number of USGS type folks present in Kabul would easily throw this number off considerable due to Americans automatically filing felt reports for earthquakes and therefore it can not be determined the extent of shaking present at that location since only 2 felt reports were filed it could have been very minimal. I will have to update this if any more information comes in or in later blogs.
The Iceland Volcano now has some nice pics of lava flowing and the aviation alert was raised and lowered again and as of this writing it is presently lowered, but this blog does not keep up with the moment by moment alert level so you have to check elsewhere for the very latest aviation alerts to keep up to date on that.
Finally there is a huge swarm taking place currently at Alaska and north of Juneau! This will be going on into this week so I will have much more on it as September kicks in today! Probably means a lot more Major Earthquake stuff about to happen and I have to add that both the September Full Moon AND my 2014 EQ Radio Show are coming up next Monday, September 8, 2014 when the Full Moon will be high overhead as The EQ Guy hits the airwaves once again!!! This time it will be the exact moment of that Full Moon just 38 minuttes after the end of my show! Can hardly wait to see who shakes!!!
