There was at least a little bit of earthquake news late on Friday when a 6.0 Richters Earthquake struck near Vanuatu with a 4.8 foreshock one minute before and many aftershocks.
AND Thank-You for pointing out that I had alerted about possible earthquakes following those 100 plus earthquakes that struck at Yellowstone during the recent January New Moon Window! Yes, it was pretty much of a sure thing there would be more earthquakes, too, and oh did I say Eureka or Northern California? Started to look early Friday like there was something major going on up there north of Los Angeles along the "Pearblossum Highway" just not too far north of like Pasadena, when all of these earthquakes were striking, but not too much followed. Take a look at just the ones that struck in about an hour or two early Friday. . . I guess this was less than 24 hours altogether totaled:

Finally this just in as I was about to send todays EQ Blog to press. . . I came across this story about the whole entire month of January producing NO RAIN at all whatsoever for my friends in the San Francisco Region!!! @ http://www.msn.com/en-us/weather/topstories/san-francisco-could-have-its-first-rainless-january-in-165-years/ar-AA8IGKk?ocid=mailsignout . . . I want to say "Good Story", but unfortunately it's rather kind of a "Bad Story." Whether it has anything to do with it or not, I do recall saying when I was working out there that it seems like we're really burning a lot of natural gas!? I personally myself built many of the units and ironically one of the years when we put a lot of new "Gas Burners" online became one of the hottest years on record, 2003!!! That tipped me off right then and there! Just seemed to me even at the time that the air intakes needed an evaporator due to the large amount of fresh air pouring into it. . . and very obviously burning any signs of H2o. . . out of it!!! So, here's wishing for Frisco to someday recover from drought, but they continue to be burning all the natural gas even as I am writing. . . and still with no evaporator or heat-sinks on the "Hot End" either!
LOOKS like something might still shake in a lot of places and especially around our West Coast and California so be watching!!! Just prior to the posting of this EQ Blog concerning big new earthquakes a 2.8 struck near downtown Seattle with a huge felt report you can now see at Earthquake Central@ http://eqalert.blogspot.com/2015/01/big-28-richters-earthquake-strikes-at.html AND which is now making it look like we might not know what could happen next as far as earthquakes!!! This information just occurred to me in the hours after posting yesterdays EQ Blog and I have now had some more time to think about this so here it is, in my search for what all sources of Major Earthquake Energy continued around the world, I did not come up with a good source for the 5.7 that struck Offshore Eureka. Probably not the effect of any of the recent typhoons, but I had been watching Oklahoma as most of you can recall from reading it here. Most notably on Monday of this week there were like a dozen earthquakes there but probably most importantly might have been the fact that at least two of them were 4 Magnitude or higher. This magnitude of earthquake when they strike Oklahoma due to fracking there, usually causes earthquakes in California eventually and Yellowstone also had over a hundred earthquakes during the recent January New Moon so we continued to watch for more. 5.7 Richters Offshore Northern California was probably connected to all that, but most importantly probably due to fracking in Oklahoma as the result of that connection.
Although it sometimes may seem vague even to myself as I'm pouring over all the facts surrounding the fact that they're employing extremely high pressure water in the ground at Oklahoma and it seems to be pushing apart the bedrock at that point. . . and is it causing earthquakes in California? Did it cause or play a role in the Haiti Earthquake? Will it be a factor in the upcoming CASCADIA Earthquake that could flood our entire West Coast with a Cataclysmic Sized Tsunami (CST)?
Surprised to see this strange looking swarm striking 126 miles south of Salt Lake City in Utah! Here is the entire list of earthquakes from mostly the last 24 hours prior to this blog:

5.7 Richters Strikes Just Offshore From Eureka in Northern California and a 3.8 Strikes 86 Miles Northwest of London!!! UPDATE: 2.8 Strikes Near Downtown Seattle!!!
UPDATE: 2.8 Richters Earthquake otherwise might have gone unnoticed except it shook very near downtown Seattle today! Unbelievable felt report includes lots of major towns in immediate area, too!! Today there are far too many earthquakes for me to adequately be able to write about all of them and a lot of them could be considered to be significant, too. Including one very near the Ortega Highway in Southern California, but again since the new maps do not have a scale of miles I am not able to tell how many miles that might be from Ortega Highway. . . perhaps about half the length of that highway to the north at Trubuco Canyon. Some of the other minor ones were at Chester, California and Curran, Nevada. 6.1 Fiji, and 4.3 Poland Earthquakes, and Let's Watch For 8 Richters Through February Full Moon Window This Weekend!!! UPDATE: 5.7 Richters Struck Offshore Eureka, California Today!!!
UPDATE: In my travels today among other stuff that happened, my phone chimed with a HUGE Northern California Earthquake of 5.7 Richters just Offshore from Eureka, update coming soon! I tried and I tried, but was not able to make heads nor tales out of the new maps that the USGS has posted to illustrate the exact location of the latest earthquakes. So, instead I decided I would just tell you that the Poland Earthquake was several miles east of Berlin, Germany. How many miles exactly, I actually have no idea and not being too familiar with that region I could not even guess. It might have been twenty or thirty miles east. . . it could have been a hundred miles east, or it might even have been more than a hundred miles to the east such as possibly even two or three hundred miles east. Not sure. Similarly I can not guess how far to the west of the island of Nuie that Fiji Earthquake struck, either? Kind of looked like a little bit of ocean in between the epicenter and a few of those nearby islands, but I suppose if I was to guess by extrapolating the size of those islands that are situated nearby on the map, it could possibly have been one or several hundred miles from the island of Nuie, or Fiji. . . whichever, but I suppose it could also have been as close as maybe 75 miles. I might just have to start getting used to not having a "Scale of Miles" on the new USGS Map system, or I was thinking if there was a way I could search for Google Maps, the system they used to have, and then locate roughly the epicenter on my own, then I might get a better idea of those distances. Until then I am not always going to be able to tell you how many miles things are away due to the new USGS map system not having a scale of miles.
Now let's talk about how the experts predicted that big "Super Storm" shall we? Just heard this one at the last moments before I was leaving work late on Tuesday night. Sounds like the "Experts" missed fairly bad on that latest prediction for a supposedly HUGE Winter Storm that was supposed to strike a lot of the East Coast places. . . and instead it seems to have struck more of the northerly cities and apparently left out some of the biggies such as it looks like Washington, DC might have been one of them. Might have just guessed that would also explain the big scandal, too! That city would not be operating normally if there was not a scandal, know what I'm saying! Now they can't agree on the WEATHER!!! The best I can do is repeat one of my all time not best EQ Alerts. . . and that was the landfalll of Hurricane Irene at Puerto Rico back on August 22, 2011 and here's that days EQ Blog: http://earthquakealert.blogspot.com/2011/08/new-earthquake-energy-stay-tuned.html?showComment=1422426994535 I added that note to the comments section and will repeat that this alert ended up preceding that now historical and BIGGG Virginia Earthquake that shook Washington, DC, the Washington Monument, and etc.
A dozen earthquakes have struck the Oklahoma Region in the previous 24 hours prior to this EQ Blog, although I did not go back through the entire day and day before to see if there was any particular 24 hours in there that would have led to a higher overall number because it's possible there could have been. While the final day of a normal EQ Alert will be today on the big 8 Richters alert we've been following, there was long ago ONE. . . that I discovered at Day 60 and since there is so much earthquake stuff going on currently I don't think anybody will even notice if we watch all the way through the upcoming early February Full Moon Window!!! Several earthquakes struck on Monday in the area SOUTH of Reno, Nevada now although I haven't checked the exact location, it did say also north of Carson City, too. There is a long entire list with lots of tiny earthquakes under ONE Richter that I will edit and run after this felt report that represents both the 2.6 and 2.4 Richters earthquakes at 3:29 and 3:57pm Central or 1:29 and 1:57pm Pacific:

On my mission to resolve all of the problems with the new USGS listing, it said "Copy and Paste into a Spreadsheet Application" but that goes beyond what I know about copy and pasting. For now I will continue to simply practice with the new system and come up with whatever I can such as the way I did the Reno list above with 5 earthquakes hardly being a challenge to put into columns manually! Just wait until a big enough one comes along that has upwards of a hundred felt reports. . . then it will be time to figure out how to "Paste into a Spreadsheet."
So, as I discovered as I was drafting the script for my latest EQ Blog, it looks like the final day, Day 52 after the landfall of Typhoon Hagupit at Philippines will be on Wednesday. That can go two ways, now! First, something Major could still shake, or once, just once something could just shake in the days BEYOND Day 52, such as say up to Day 60?! Not something that I have too much experience to talk about here, so let us just keep watching for now. Severe winter conditions they are now getting in a few places might become a factor in our not too distant future, too! EQ Guy

On my mission to resolve all of the problems with the new USGS listing, it said "Copy and Paste into a Spreadsheet Application" but that goes beyond what I know about copy and pasting. For now I will continue to simply practice with the new system and come up with whatever I can such as the way I did the Reno list above with 5 earthquakes hardly being a challenge to put into columns manually! Just wait until a big enough one comes along that has upwards of a hundred felt reports. . . then it will be time to figure out how to "Paste into a Spreadsheet."
So, as I discovered as I was drafting the script for my latest EQ Blog, it looks like the final day, Day 52 after the landfall of Typhoon Hagupit at Philippines will be on Wednesday. That can go two ways, now! First, something Major could still shake, or once, just once something could just shake in the days BEYOND Day 52, such as say up to Day 60?! Not something that I have too much experience to talk about here, so let us just keep watching for now. Severe winter conditions they are now getting in a few places might become a factor in our not too distant future, too! EQ Guy

4.7 Richters Strikes 6 Miles Southeast of Xacmaz, Azerbaijan!!! Santa Ana Winds Could Become a Factor in Upcoming Earthquakes, Too!
I have long known that there has been a relationship between those 89 mph gusts of this weekends Santa Ana Winds and a lot of the earthquakes that they get in California. Probably one of my all time best correlations along those lines was the time I was out at the Santa Monica Pier one sunny Saturday when all of the sudden this huge gust of wind sweeps across the Pacific Ocean and hits me directly in the face to the point that it was noticeably high winds! Wasn't all, though! Next the ground shook hard in sympathy and taking it all in caused me to look around to see if I could figure out what it was all about. Well, there was that huge mountain just off in the distance and so I reasoned the wind had not only been blowing in my face, but was probably a tiny part of an enormous air mass clearly moving onto land from offshore there along the Pacific Coast. This all must have caused that "Spot Quake" to shake a moment after the gust of wind went through.
Historically speaking, this would have been the day that I ran home to my apartment in Hollywood and picked up the Daily News where they carry both the days small earthquakes, AND the biggest gusts of wind, and guess what? I was amazingly able to match up the list of biggest wind gusts along side the list of the days small earthquakes as probably many of you have seen both of these lists published daily out there, and they were a perfect match!!! With the exception for the fact that the earthquakes list had the exact minute posted and the winds were rounded off to the nearest five minutes, but obviously even still exact! Ever since that day I have well known The Santa Ana Winds do tip over semi's, blow down billboards and trees. . . and cause lots of 2 and 3 Magnitude Earthquakes around the Southern California Area.
That explains how I was mesmerized early Sunday Morning when earthquake after earthquake was coming in from that California area and I sort of waited to see what was going to happen next. I have now started an "Event Page" on my Hurricane Cards for this weekends "Santa Ana Winds" and you might hear more about it in coming EQ Blogs due to it possibly becoming a precursor to more earthquakes in the future! Here is that list of lots of earthquakes that all struck within ONE HOUR!!! Then we will move on:

With regards to the banner headline about Azerbaijan, I took a look at the geographical location of the region and found a number of things about it. Probably my biggest discovery might have been the fact that the epicenter of this particular earthquake that headlines todays EQ Blog was near the tomb. . . of NOAH!!!!! Check out this amazing story and see for yourself@ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nakhchivan_%28city%29#Legends_and_Traditions NOW it does sort of lead on that there might be more than one location claiming to be the actual tomb of Noah, and there is supposed to also be a mound there that I suppose might have had something to do with where he built the ark, or something like that, but having just come across this right at press time for todays EQ Blog, I can't be sure how authentic the whole story is right at the moment. I suppose only to say if it says it in Wikipedia, is it necessarily based entirely on truth?
So, we will now be down to the final days on any EQ Alerts that remain in effect and Santa Ana Winds probably will not add too much to that, so as we approach the now higher day numbers still continue to watch and remember that I was the only one watching all by myself for a Major Earthquake in the days long before I had more than 3 or 6 readers per blog. 1.9 Richters Long Beach, California!!! Felt in Torrance!!! Adapting To New "Latest Earthquakes" List! AND New Job in California For The EQ Guy???
I guess looking closer at that Long Beach Earthquake it was actually early on Friday Morning, just that 1.9 was hardly worth posting an update on. When I just now saw the felt report, though, I decided it was worthy of my headline story for Saturday unless something else comes along you know. Also, I just completed my online application for a job at a radio station in a small community in California where I know a lot of people and have a good chance of getting a job there! Nearby one construction job I worked at while out there, and near enough to the Pacific that I can stay at many of the campgrounds out there if I do get this!!! Now let's move on to my long awaited discussion of the landfall of Hurricane Bret at Texas/Mexico in August of 1999.
Here is a great old pic I found of Hurricane Bret which made landfall just to the south of Texas in August of 1999:
You can see in this here pic that the line of the direct landfall there points STRAIGHT towards Los Angeles according to my "Go Straight Theory" and this one actually resulted in a big one there, too!!! This is a pic of the exact track that was taken by huge Hurricane Bret back in August of 1999 and it was Day 55 when the 7.1 Richters Hector Mine Earthquake struck Los Angeles and still a few more days before Day 55 after the landfall of Typhoon Hagupit. . . in case anybody is keeping track.

6.8 Richters Strikes Pacific Ocean Near Vanuatu! ALSO: Those 100 Yellowstone Earthquakes WILL Mean More Earthquakes!!!
Had some trouble just now figuring out their brand new "Latest Earthquakes" pages and actually missed this huge one on my first pass! Remarkably I just happened to check my E-Mail next for whatever reason and was surprised to spot this big earthquake at Vanuatu. In fact so near the main island there that it would seem highly likely a felt report would be certain to list Port Villa. Epicenter still offshore, NO Tsunami was reported and here is that statement directly from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)@ http://ntwc.arh.noaa.gov/events/PAAQ/2015/01/23/nim2j3/1/WEAK53/WEAK53.txt
The January New Moon Swarm at Yellowstone officially began at 13 hours and 27 minutes after the exact moment of the new moon and ran the following hours with over 100 earthquakes all totaled. Continuing to run all the way through the second-half of the New Moon Window and then concluded 1 hour, 54 minutes before the exact moment of the end of the January New Moon Window. Thus entirely having shook at the rate of over 100 earthquakes all entirely AFTER the exact moment of the new moon, but possibly more importantly with the aid of the pull of the effects of the new moon from the east, rather than the west as is some times the case in swarms such as this one associated with the full or new moon. Such a huge swarm of earthquakes as the swarm that shook at Yellowstone can virtually now be counted on to be followed by an equal number of similar swarms at yet another location or eventually usually a Major Earthquake. Right this moment as I'm writing this I want to report that I came up with Alaska for a possibly location for swarm that may follow, and that region where they have recently gotten swarms near Fairbanks tops my list. Of course Virginia City, North of Reno, and Mammoth Lakes are almost predictable to have Major Swarms following Yellowstone, too. Be watching, though, because the Yellowstone Swarm DOES represent a huge amount of earthquake energy and there remains one possible 8 Richters Earthquake along with a possible tsunami to boot!!! Although that paragraph was written before the 6.8 Vanuatu Earthquake we should probably continue to watch for more! EQ Guy

Over 100 Earthquakes Strike Yellowstone INSIDE The January New Moon Window!!! WATCH For Who Will Shake NEXT!!!!! WILL 8 Richters Strike Yellowstone???
When I went to the list of all the latest earthquakes and double-checked the Yellowstone area to confirm the total reported earlier in a Wednesday Update of 45, I Zoomed-In on a large mass of small earthquakes and couldn't believe what I was seeing when it said 119 earthquakes there! Next, I reran the time and date on the bulk of them of still over a hundred to be certain and all of those falling well within the January New Moon Window!!! LOTS of shaking at Yellowstone turned out to be the result of the added pull on the surface of the earth during that 24 hours immediately following the exact moment of the New Moon. Big News Is That 4.7 Richters Earthquake That Struck Near Monterey And Pebble Beach, California!!! Check Out The HUGE Felt Report, Too!!!!! UPDATE: 45 Earthquake Strike at Yellowstone!!!!! Keep Watching!!!

Just went back and checked all through the last 30 days of all the most major earthquakes in search of anything that might qualify as the one that we continue to be watching for during the January 2015 New Moon Window and am very sorry to have to report that the only ones that I found with any significance are a 6.6 Panama on January 6, 2015 and a 6.3 Tobelo, Indonesia on December 21, 2014 with that landfall of the big Typhoon Hagupit having been on December six or seven their time and our time. Missing is a way to locate the few additional earthquakes that could have struck in between time, say Mid-December but I will attempt to locate them prior to the deadline for this blog or tomorrow.
Exact moment of the January New Moon will be 5:15am Tuesday Morning Pacific Time and the entire New Moon Window will run into Wednesday at about the same time although we do add a few hours to that for extra measure so let's take the window on into Wednesday a while say sunset local time at which point we will be ever so near an all clear. . . but not just yet! There's still two whole days of that January New Moon lurking and at least one Major Earthquake and possibly tsunami that does seem to be unaccounted for!!!!! EQ Guy

January New Moon Window Starts At 5:15am Pacific Time, AND on Day 43!!!!!
As we get out there in the number of days we have been continually watching for a potential major earthquake resultant, I noticed I am starting to check and re-check some of the more familiar correlations with the most major of windstorms with the most major of earthquakes that were the result. Case in point just early Sunday as I prepare for my early Monday Morning EQ Blog was the question of Landers, Hector Mines, Islamabad, and then Honshu, Japan came up again although I knew I had just not too long ago discussed that one. It was back on Day 37 which led me to write out this paragraph to the effect that there have now even been many of these more lengthy correlations that me and only me has very patiently followed all the way down the long road to the series of day numbers where strictly speaking a few of the biggest earthquakes have occurred!!! Checked Landers and the day number was eclipsed several days ago, checked Yasi/Honshu and it was Day 37 or last week. . . and as you know that leaves today, Day 42 the date of the huge 6.3 Offshore San Diego earthquake that followed one of my most fantastic Official Predictions for Lompoc, California that actually HIT!!! Albeit in the range of just 3 or 4 Richters. Finally Katrina-Islamabad on the same day as this months New Moon or Day 43 on Tuesday. Those were also major waits for those major earthquakes. . . but in the end turned out to be RIGHT!!! Remaining, and I just completed going back to 1999 and auditing this one, is the Hurricane Bret-Hector Mines earthquake and still to this day the BIGGEST Major Earthquake to strike Los Angeles with that correlation to drag on possibly with us along with it, until February 1st.
LOTS of earthquakes started striking around Los Angeles on Sunday, but since they didn't look fearsome enough and in the end there weren't enough of them I decided not to write up a special EQ Blog entry for that days events and instead wrote up the list. Saturday is the Anniversary of Northridge Earthquake of 1994. . . . . so like now 21 years ago today! That was the day that I felt like I had no other choice than to give up my lifes work of Screenwriting and put it all aside for a life of nothing else but the study of earthquakes! Haven't actually written any screenplays since that day, either, with the exception of a screenplay all about my work with earthquakes called "EQ Alert: The Movie"!!! Enough about that movie, now here's this weeks EQ Podcast in which I discuss all the Oklahoma Earthquakes and Connecticut Earthquakes this week and suggest it could mean an East Coast Earthquake!!! The fact of the matter today is that as the now infamous date of January 17 arrives, there is still that one "Unexploded Dynamite Theory Alert" that has yet to fully be accounted for and we are now looking at Day 42 and Day 43 after the landfall of Typhoon Hagupit at Philippines and just so happened to have run across that pic and I will show it here one last time since it is either time for this earthquake to strike, or begin winding the alert down:
NOW that you have seen what Hagupit looked like at or near the landfall you can understand we are probably looking at an earthquake big enough that it will be easily recognized and possibly has NOT happened yet! January New Moon Window will start early Monday Morning at 7:15am Central, 5:15am Pacific and when you add a few hours that we have recently started using for extra measure you'll come out at about 11pm Sunday Night Pacific Time or BEFORE my next EQ Blog that will be early Monday, so start watching now for this Major Earthquake just in case it decides to match the Hurricane Sandy Resultant at Day 42-Sunday, or the Hurricane Katrina Resultant of 7.6 Richters Islamabad on Day 43 or Monday coincidentally the start of the New Moon Window, too!!!
I'd honestly have to say there is a very good chance for a Major Earthquake in the coming hours and days and also watch out for something that could shake out east following all of that earthquake action at Oklahoma and Connecticut!!! Todays Major Earthquake situation has changed dramatically in the moments before this blog was written! For now I will leave Indonesia as the top story, but be aware Oklahoma and Connecticut might be foreshocks to an unknown Major Earthquake somewhere right here in USA!!!

As much as I wanted to begin todays EQ Blog with this next story, Indonesia still seems like it is far too much more likely to become the next Major Earthquake-Tsunami location that I insisted on leaving it as todays lead story. However, 18 Earthquakes at Oklahoma-Kansas in just the most recent 24 hours as of this writing is a very remarkable story, too! That has to be the most earthquakes I've ever seen in that region all at once and in just one 24 hour period. Now I did not go all the way back through the previous 24 hours to see if there was a point where there might have been even more earthquakes in any one 24 hour period, but it is still even possible that could happen, too. Just that there were so many earthquakes marked at the Oklahoma spot on the map as I was about to check Connecticut that I had to Zoom-In and then go down the list and count them manually and could hardly even believe how long the list was in the first place and then came up with 18!!! COULD just be something coming for that region such as one of those occasions where all of the sudden there is a thousand foot high volcano in the middle of nowhere for some unexplained reason, so be watching for what could happen in Oklahoma! 4.7 Chile, 4.7 Mexico, And 4.4 Argentina!!! ALSO: A Few 5 Richters Shakers Around Indonesia
Along with several 5 Magnitude Earthquakes out in the Indonesia Region and one 4.5 around Japan. While I am still watching for any sign that there could still be an 8 Richters Earthquake lurking especially around Indonesia, these 4.7 Chile and Mexico Earthquakes seem to say the action might be on our side of the Pacific. The January New Moon will fall on January 20, 2015 at 13:15 UTC, or 7:13am Central and 5:13am Pacific Time on Tuesday with the window beginning very early Monday Morning and as that moment approaches we might even need to start thinking about this late on Sunday Night.
If and when something more major than just what is going on above comes along, I want to leave it at that for now. I'm also very busy putting together my new Demo Track to send out to the agents for some possible voice-over work and that sort of stuff with the package right in front of me now as I write, waiting to be closed up with packaging tape! That is because apparently I cut off the sticky closure piece thinking it was a not-used part of the cardboard envelope, since it's been a while since I routinely submitted such exciting stuff as a CD of my best radio voices you understand! Later I'm looking forward to going to see "Selma" so please do not tell me any more about that movie, because I want it to be a surprise as all of it unfolds in front of me on the big screen while I munch on my popcorn and pop with all the free refills!!!
Still at least that one potential major earthquake out there that tends to be only ME watching for as Day 42 and 43 come along. As a rule Day 43 is about as far as I routinely track earthquake energy, but know that in all the days of my research there was one or two with numbers such as 51 and 52. . . but so far in the past and all the names and dates of those entries long ago lost!!! I wouldn't begin to be able to tell you or even guess where those dates might have come up in the pages of history! But let us keep watching just the same, because a lot of these dates ARE significant and have produced major earthquakes!!! EQ Guy

5 Year Anniversary of Great Haiti Earthquake, And Eureka 2010 Earthquake!!! WATCH For More Earthquakes!!! UPDATE: 4.3 + 3.4 Richters At Eureka, California!!!
Yes, that also happens to already be the subject of todays blog, but right now I must report 4.3 and 3.4 Richters Earthquakes at 25 and 41 miles Southwest of Eureka, 2:38am and 2:44am Pacific Time so be watching for more shakers or something Major!!! Now Todays EQ Blog:

One or two earthquakes worth talking about in todays EQ Blog, and also Day 37 coming and going with Day 42 and Day 43 ever so close, now! Don't forget Day 42 after landfall of Hurricane Sandy was the 6.3 Offshore San Diego and Day 43 after landfall of Hurricane Katrina was Islamabad Earthquake and BOTH of those dates have yet to come!!! Do the math! Today is Day 38 after landfall of Typhoon Hagupit at Philippines and there seems to be a New Moon coming early next week, too!!!

So, there is the pic that I have been talking about and now I am just posting it due to the fact that I wanted to get it out of the way so we can go on, now! Great pic and the point of the story I took it from was that the GGB was empty that day due to 1000 tons of concrete dividers being installed. My point is they could not have possibly done any engineering study on the bridge prior to putting a thousand tons of concrete out there in the middle because if my math is correct that would mean at least half of the weight, or 500 tons of that weight is right now hanging by a thread at the end of the point where the actual earth lends any support. Therefore that 500 tons is out there in the middle even right now when traffic is normally much lighter and the cables might normally get a rest from all the daytime weight. In the year 2010 when the 7.1 Richters Eureka Earthquake struck it was mostly severe winter conditions that we had been getting up to that point and mostly in the preceding December of the year 2009. Then, on January 12, 2010 or officially now five years ago, actually on Monday, but since those days I have added to that theory dramatically. Right this moment as I am writing this I still do use all the theories exactly as stated in that O.P. you read above. . . but as of late 2014 it now looks like fracking in Oklahoma might also have been a factor in both of those earthquakes.
At the moment the Eureka 2010 Earthquake struck on a Saturday Night, I mentioned that the movement of the North American Tectonic Plate might continue to move and that the far Southeast Corner might be next, mumbling Haiti under my breath to myself or maybe at best in a Twitter message somewhere that night because there were many, many following Eureka. But, what role did fracking play in continued movement of the North American Tectonic Plate, what I declared was the cause of Haiti? I currently describe "Fracking Earthquakes" simply as underground explosions caused by high-pressure water being used to push apart bedrock deep underground and go on to say the actual earthquakes caused by fracking are at the more distant edges of the nearest tectonic plate or most notably California and Nevada. So, on this 5 Year Anniversary of both of those Major Earthquakes at Eureka, and Haiti, it remains to be seen what role fracking played in the total amount of damage and number of deaths from those earthquakes. Certainly fracking is to blame to some extent, but if you read the Official Prediction that I wrote PRIOR to those earthquakes you can decide for yourself. . . one or the other, or both?

BIG Swarm Shaking North California, North Of Reno!!!!! ALSO: 3.3 Richters Connecticut With Foreshocks And Aftershocks!!!
As I write this early on Tuesday Morning there has just now been a Huge Swarm of a full page of earthquakes as big as 3.1 and 3.8 up there at that usual North of Reno and Northern California Region! Watch For this to lead to something major because it is a big amount of earthquake energy happening and there is still a lot of earthquake energy out there. Earlier on Monday there was this 3.3 at Connecticut with this entire list of aftershocks reading from the bottom with that 3.3 there in the middle and the aftershocks reading up from there:

If time permits, I want to say one more time that the cables on the Golden Gate Bridge must be about completely rusted away! Now with all the new added weight of as much as 1000 Tons of Concrete it makes it that much more likely the slightest earthquake, much less a Major one will do a whole lot of serious damage, there! Did have a pic to upload here, but due to the large amount of other stuff to write about today, I might pass on running that pic that I borrowed from somewhere else, anyways. Eventually it will become necessary to build some sort of superstructure out near the middle of that bridge for the purpose of supporting that span of however long the length of unsupported highway reaches out to the middle of the bridge. Then old rusted out cables will need to be removed, and new fresh set of cables put in their place.
Very likely that since Tuesday will be Day 37 after landfall of Typhoon Hagupit. . . that there may still be enough Major Earthquake Energy out there to cause one more Earthquake-Tsunami Event around Indonesia, Peru, or Chile so we should continue to watch and as I discussed in the V-Log above the severe cold could also bring on some shaking for us! Maybe more yet out east and always could be more in California or our West Coast!!! EQ Guy

Great Honshu Japan Earthquake Struck On Day 37 After Landfall of Cyclone Yasi at Queensland, Australia!!! UPDATE: 3.3 Richters Strikes Connecticut!!!

Just occurred to me over the weekend that one other earthquake that struck in the day range we are approaching was the now Great Honshu Japan Earthquake-Tsunami of 2011. So I went back and searched the basic information on that and found landfall of Cyclone Yasi at Queensland, Australia was on February 2, 2011 and the Honshu, Japan Earthquake was on March 11, 2011 or Day 37 after that landfall. Day 37 after landfall of Typhoon Hagupit at Philippines will be Tuesday of this week.
Lots of earthquakes seem to be striking at the Mid-Atlantic and one that looks like it is shaking at the same time on the other side of the Continent of Africa. At least one up in the region around Iceland, too, but that might otherwise be considered usual if it wasn't happening in the middle of all this other stuff.
My regular readers know that I have been routinely keeping track of everything that goes on with the Golden Gate Bridge. Well, this weekend as a lot of you know that bridge was closed much of the time to install a new barrier between inbound and outbound traffic. Writing about it here today because it is my opinion there could NOW be an issue with how much ADDITIONAL WEIGHT might be involved with all the new concrete they are installing!!! Here's the LINK to that story@ http://news.yahoo.com/golden-gate-bridge-closes-install-collision-barrier-082741256.html At the end of that story you might notice it was closed one other time in 1987 a few hours to celebrate the 50th Anniversary, but my question in brief today is if they celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge in 1987. . . then exactly how old are those cables that are supposed to be "Suspending" this bridge up in the air above San Francisco Bay? And did the engineers calculate all the additional weight of all those concrete barriers before installing them because it does not look like too good of an idea to me to be installing MORE concrete out in the middle of a 2000 foot span of steel that is only being supported by two cables that now appear to be going on something like 75 years old? Today we are now forced by laws to replace any such cables when they reach like five years of age including the cables we use for rigging and lifting of the heaviest of objects. . . not sure what the reason is that they seem to NOT have to replace those cables EVER!? This is at least partly due to having worked out there for all the contractors at one time and was one of the guys who always hoped for such a Great Job!!!
Moving on, here is the now updated complete list of countries from my "Performance Page" and that entire list of countries so far is: United States, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Russia, Romania, Belgium, Netherlands, Greece, Italy, Japan, Egypt, Hong Kong, Singapore, Slovenia, Antilles, Malta, Romania, Malaysia, Guam, Philippines, France, Germany, Poland, New Zealand, Argentina, South Africa, Kenya, Nepal, Indonesia, India, Canada, Haiti, Chile, Australia, and Jamaica. I'll keep this list updated at this location through late January, too, and will see if it grows at all or not.

Oklahoma!!! Where They Just Got 4 Earthquakes In One Hour!!!
Just as I was about to start writing my EQ Blog. . . wouldn't you know this great story would come across the wire! Started to sound like a theme song from an old Broadway play as I was writing that headline, too, doesn't it? Yes, Oklahoma was at one time a Rodgers and Hammerstein play, but don't tell me any more about it, because I may go check out a copy from my local library tomorrow! Here is the list I was talking about in that headline, first one at 22:26 and latest one as of this writing at 23:29 and possible more could come along throughout Saturday Morning, too:
2.6 4km S of Guthrie, Oklahoma 2015-01-09 23:29:14 8.0 km
2.8 8km E of McLoud, Oklahoma 2015-01-09 23:12:39 6.7 km
3.1 4km SSW of Perry, Oklahoma 2015-01-09 23:06:52 2.1 km
2.9 4km S of Guthrie, Oklahoma 2015-01-09 22:26:07 5.0 km
Of course there were many others much further down the list, along with a Texas Earthquake or two as well, but when they started coming across one right after another and the map was suddenly filled with red dots. . . I knew something was up and so I checked immediately!
Mixed up in about that same time span were also a 4.4 Peru and a 4.0 Turkey Earthquakes with Peru still on that list for the Major Earthquake-Tsunami if one is still out there, and it should be! Now looking at Day numbers 34, 35, and Day 36 will be Monday. Anything can still happen with a couple of my all time best being Day 42 after Hurricane Sandy, and Day 43 after the landfall of Hurricane Katrina. Keep watching!!!

Again, if you think about it you already know this is caused by extremely cold temperatures and I'm just saying it is also a factor in some plate tectonics or possibly in some Major Earthquake Energy (Seismic Activity) along the different fault lines. Still watching for something in the 6 Richters range for our West Coast, and there could still be 8 Richters and a tsunami out there around Indonesia and still possibly Peru or Chile. EQ Guy

Of course there were many others much further down the list, along with a Texas Earthquake or two as well, but when they started coming across one right after another and the map was suddenly filled with red dots. . . I knew something was up and so I checked immediately!
Mixed up in about that same time span were also a 4.4 Peru and a 4.0 Turkey Earthquakes with Peru still on that list for the Major Earthquake-Tsunami if one is still out there, and it should be! Now looking at Day numbers 34, 35, and Day 36 will be Monday. Anything can still happen with a couple of my all time best being Day 42 after Hurricane Sandy, and Day 43 after the landfall of Hurricane Katrina. Keep watching!!!

2.5 Richters Earthquake Strikes Very Near Beautiful Downtown Hayward, California!!!
A close look at the epicenter of the 2.5 Richters Earthquake at Hayward, California shows that it was less than a mile south of Hayward High School and even closer, practically at the Pioneer Stadium of California State University East Bay, and in the area of one mile south of Hayward City Hall right there in the middle of Beautiful Downtown Hayward, California and just next door to the Lucky Supermarket, there!!! Here's the felt report, but if the shaking gets too much bigger at that location they could be in trouble, too!!!

In addition to the big towns listed above in that abbreviated list, there was also Castro Valley-9, San Leandro-13, and Union City-1, and that list was continuing to grow as of press time even though I checked and rechecked the actual time of the earthquake and it appears to have been at 8:49pm Central, and 6:49pm Pacific and apparently the felt reports continued to come in! Let's check it right now, and I even see that Hayward 94544 has gone up from 9 to 13 even since a few moments ago when I cut and pasted the above! I might update later if they don't get even more earthquakes or an even bigger one!!!
Well, I have been having some trouble with my main EQ Blog page as some of you have no doubt noticed, and yesterday got into a terrible mess with the buttons that go between the "Compose" Page and the "All Posts" Page. Problem was that there is a page in between where it gives me the option of changing everything all around and that is basically what happened! You have probably already noticed and you are probably reading on the very messed up page right now! Yes, I haven't any idea at all how to get the page back to how I like it. . . and it's very possible it will never be returned to the "Classic Style" that I have been running on here for so many years! The "Mobile" version has been changed, too, although I am not exactly sure what the mobile version looked like before I started changing things there, too!
Friday I'll be going to the funeral for my fathers second wife and I was asked to be a pallbearer. Dad and my Step-Mother Barb were huge fans of my work in the movie business!!! Here is a great pic of them taken from their 1996 Christmas Card. Dad passed away in 2003.

As of press time on todays EQ Blog I have not got an exact correlation for just sub-zero temperatures alone. Many for snow, high winds, and sub-zero temperatures, but right at the moment it's just mostly the sub-zero temperatures alone and one might only guess that there could be some reaction to the extreme cold when it comes to tectonic plates. The best correlation if you can call it that, is the story I told on a recent "EQ Radio Show" about that "Smart Millwright" who suggested using dry-ice to free up a STUCK VALVE in a High-Pressure Steam Turbine. Well, we hammered and hammered and it remained stuck until my now very famous friend suggested putting dry-ice on it. Wasn't too long after doing just that and the big valve was UN-STUCK!!! So, apply several bags of dry-ice to a valve that was like 24 inches across and it shrinks, freeing it. . . apply the sub-zero temperatures we're getting to the Northern U.S. and parts of the south, and we might expect a stuck fault line somewhere to do the same! So be watching for the tinyist of fault lines to free up from having possibly been stuck for a lot of years, like possibly millions! And be prepared! EQ Guy

Texas, Texas, Texas!!! We're Talking Some Serious Shaking There!!!!! Could They Get Big One?
Although there has also just been a 4.8 Richters Shaker up in the immediate area of Canada just across the Strait of Juan de Fuca from that very Northwestern tip of the State of Washington which gave me the opportunity to check out some beautiful scenery up that way courtesy of Map World! Didn't look like it was hardly near enough to our side of that political boundary to actually be felt in our country, but mostly notable for the fact that it was preceded by that 6.6 Richters at Panama late Monday as well as all the shaking in Texas which leads me to my next topic today.
Yes, Texas, Texas, Texas!!! I wanted to mention it somewhere at some point, and don't think it came up in yesterdays EQ Blog, but 6.6 Richters Panama and now add to that 4.8 Western Canada just might still equal something along our own West Coast could be next. Additionally all the shaking now in Texas could also be a factor, here. Is it possible all this action along the edges of the Pacific Tectonic Plate could next mean something for California.
Here is what the entire list of the biggest Texas Earthquakes looks like, and keep in mind there are a lot of smaller ones, although those could be mostly aftershocks of the series from Monday:

Well, if those sub-zero temperatures actually ARE a factor such as I have said before in the past like when I discuss dry-ice as a lot of you know, if cold is a factor then watch out! It is cold and more like 0 Degrees cold, if no degrees at all makes any sense! And I have seen the thermometer read -1 at some point in the recent days, too! So, if severe sub-zero cold temperatures are a factor, there might even be more earthquakes coming faster than I will have tome to explain all of that! Possibly places such as Southern Illinois, New Madrid, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virgina Region, too! Be Watching!!! EQ Guy

6.6 Richters Strikes 161 Miles South Of Panama! ALSO: 3.6 And 3.5 Near Dallas, Texas
Very close to press time today on this here EQ Blog that you're reading, and a 6.6 Richters Earthquake strikes 161 Miles South of Panama in Central America. Far enough offshore that I had to go directly to check for a tsunami and luckily there was not one. Far enough offshore that neither were there any felt reports posted in about the immediate hour past the moment it happened which must have been about the same time my movie got done and I turned the computer on or a few minutes after 11pm Central Time now going on one hour ago, no felt reports yet.
Previously the big headline for today, and now the second paragraph, but still startling, is the fact that there was a LOT of shaking near Dallas, Texas on Monday. 3.6, 3.5, and 3.5 plus one or two others with the second 3.5 being slightly farther west of Dallas and near Snyder, Texas. Here is the felt report from the 3.5 Richters Near Dallas today, although it was followed about an hour by that 3.6, the felt reports must be quite the same, so I did not redo it: http://eqalert.blogspot.com/2015/01/35-richters-strikes-near-dallas-texas.html
All of that said, I also came up with this small fact at some point during the day on Monday, upon other additional research on fracking being a factor in California Earthquakes, did Virginia City shake FIRST, and then Mammoth Lakes? And would that have had something to do with the fact that the earthquake energy supposedly came from Oklahoma and pushed west into Nevada, and THEN against California to Mammoth Lakes. . . then Napa, California? Not usually the path that I generally suspect nor up to this point have I ever entertained this exact process being what actually happened, but working on that one just the same and will continue. Probably also connected in some way to those Texas Earthquakes being foreshocks to the 6.6 Panama Earthquake, maybe.

New Zealand Is Shaking!!! Getting A Lot Of Earthquakes!!! Could They Get The Big One?

Did happen to have a few earthquakes around New Zealand including this 5.6 that got quite a felt report and is worth mentioning. Notice Christchurch was only a few miles from the epicenter and hopefully will not get another big earthquake, although a lot of this 8 or 9 Richers could be moving that tectonic plate in that direction and New Zealand HAS been mentioned! Here's that felt report so far as of this writing:

4.9 Strikes Idaho Near Epicenter of 6.9 Richters 1983 Earthquake, And 4.5 Shakes Los Angeles!!! Full Moon Window Runs All Through Monday!!!
You could say there was a lot of earthquake activity over the January Full Moon Weekend with the exact moment of the full moon being late Sunday night and the full moon window will continue to run all the way through Monday and it could very well still appear full even on Monday Night, although the window will have passed at around 11pm Monday Night. Still a chance that at least some of the earthquake energy comes from just the fact that the moon is still very bright in the sky and so we might even say to watch into Tuesday Morning, even though technically Tuesday Morning is several hours beyond the end of the window let us run the extended window until sunrise on Tuesday or between 7 and 8am Central Time, and maybe 7 or 8am Pacific, too.
Looked up to find out where the epicenter of 1983 Borah Peak Idaho Earthquake was because one of the news stories over the weekend that covered the 4.9 Idaho Earthquake mentioned the two epicenters were very close and found the epicenter of the 1983 Idaho Earthquake of 6.9 Richters to have been about 30 miles south of this weekends 4.9 Challis, Idaho Earthquake and further reading revealed that there were actually two deaths in that town when the 6.9 Richters Borah Peak 1983 Idaho Earthquake struck when two children were hit by falling masonry while walking to school. The other big earthquake news from this weekend was when Los Angeles was rocked by a 4.5 Richters Earthquake that struck to the north of San Fernando Valley near Castaic. There were several foreshocks at Santa Monica on the evening before the Northridge Earthquake, although TV News said the foreshocks did not indicate a Major Earthquake would be forthcoming, the Northridge Earthquake struck the next morning. Most of you probably know they were saying the same stuff late on Saturday and of course as a result of that, we should probably continue to watch another day or so at least through the end of the January Full Moon Window and see if one of those key places such as Long Beach, Los Angeles, Hollywood, Northridge, or the Castaic Region will get more shaking, yet. Meanwhile, I managed to have some time to do other things on Sunday including shoveling snow three times since it seems to have turned to Winter in Wisconsin and in between those shoveling sessions also caught the AT-40 Show with Top Songs from the year 2014!!! Looked up to find out where the epicenter of 1983 Borah Peak Idaho Earthquake was because one of the news stories over the weekend that covered the 4.9 Idaho Earthquake mentioned the two epicenters were very close and found the epicenter of the 1983 Idaho Earthquake of 6.9 Richters to have been about 30 miles south of this weekends 4.9 Challis, Idaho Earthquake and further reading revealed that there were actually two deaths in that town when the 6.9 Richters Borah Peak 1983 Idaho Earthquake struck when two children were hit by falling masonry while walking to school. The other big earthquake news from this weekend was when Los Angeles was rocked by a 4.5 Richters Earthquake that struck to the north of San Fernando Valley near Castaic. There were several foreshocks at Santa Monica on the evening before the Northridge Earthquake, although TV News said the foreshocks did not indicate a Major Earthquake would be forthcoming, the Northridge Earthquake struck the next morning. Most of you probably know they were saying the same stuff late on Saturday and of course as a result of that, we should probably continue to watch another day or so at least through the end of the January Full Moon Window and see if one of those key places such as Long Beach, Los Angeles, Hollywood, Northridge, or the Castaic Region will get more shaking, yet. Meanwhile, I managed to have some time to do other things on Sunday including shoveling snow three times since it seems to have turned to Winter in Wisconsin and in between those shoveling sessions also caught the AT-40 Show with Top Songs from the year 2014!!! 4.5 Strikes North Of Los Angeles, AND 4.9 Strikes East Of Boise!!! Full Moon Window Has BEGUN!!! WATCH For Lots More Earthquakes!!! 8 Richters/Tsunami Los Angeles???
And now this special edition of my EQ Blog, because normally I might not write on a Sunday. . . but it is looking like so much earthquake shaking especially Los Angeles, but do not discount Boise, Idaho and with the January Full Moon just about now high overhead we need to watch for lots more shaking and possibly that BIG Earthquake!!! Watch Out Los Angeles for up to 8 Richters and possibly a tsuamni of I don't know how BIG!!!!! All that about 8 Richters and a Tsunami is your basic precautionary stuff without too much real basis for that much conjecture you understand. . . just that there is really a lot of Major Earthquake Energy out there yet, and we might also remember to watch over around Great Nicobar Island and Sumatra, yet. There are many other places such as Peru and New Zealand that could get Major Earthquakes and possibly tsunami's before the January Full Moon Window is all through on Monday and even beyond that, too!!! January Full Moon Window Starts At Moon Rise Saturday!!! 6 Richters California? 8 Richters + Tsunami Sumatra??? UPDATE: 4.9 Richters Near Boise, Idaho!!!!!

Must begin by hearing this weeks Happy New Year Podcast!!! CLICK Arrow:
Have to mention the fact that it is a rare occasion when I happen to spot a Tropical Cyclone crossing the exact path that we are presently tracking a Major Earthquake. Probability that there is some connection to the energy crossing that region. . . but whatever it is it is currently crossing directly along the line where we are watching for a Major Earthquake to strike up around the Grand Nicobar Islands and this storm is crossing the exact same region from east to west along the line from Myanmar and Phuket across the Andaman Sea directly towards Nicobar. There is even one theory of old that states the earthquake energy might even travel in the form of atmospheric energy and this could be it! Could be that according to that theory that actually does not even have a name, the arc between phaselike energies of the two oceans, Pacific and Indian, might cause an earthquake when this energy or these clouds, or this storm reaches the waters of the Indian Ocean it could arc and cause shaking. Exactly how much shaking we will need to watch for another day or so and coincidentally the January Full Moon will become a factor by then!
Saturday, Sunday, and Monday will be Day 27, 28, and 29 after landfall of Typhoon Hagupit and while those days do not have a whole lot of correlations to go along with them, it will be the January Full Moon Window and there are plenty of correlations for Day 30. Therefore any number of days could become the next correlation and we must be watching! Those will also be Day 23, 24, and 25 after landfall of San Francisco Pineapple Express and they are also reporting a lot of trees fallen from some other major wind event just more recently, too. All combined and the full moon, too, we will also have to watch San Francisco and California, and possibly L.A. since that big Offshore Long Beach shaker has me sort of worried, too. L.A. could get any amount due to the Pacific alert going up to 8 Richters and the California alert being around 6.
Finally, I was lucky enough to catch a basketball game featuring some of my old friends from the University of California Riverside on Friday and here is a great pic of how that game ended, yes he makes this shot, but Riverside Bears still came up short about one point in the end!!!
Team includes guys from Northridge, Hemet, San Francisco, Sacramento, Carson, Santa Clarita, and Aptos, California, as well as Utah, Saginaw, Sweeden, China, and etc.

5.1 Richters Shakes Much Of Northern California!!! January Full Moon Window Begins At Moon Rise On Saturday Night!!! Be Watching!!!
There appear to be a lot of different reports all about this one same earthquake, but I have the current listing at 5.1, although I have seen it might have been originally posted as a 5.3 and possibly other numbers on this shaker, too! For now, unless a change comes in I will be referring to it as the 5.1, and I tend to not change my number even when sometimes it is re-calibrated, still easier to leave it.
