Legislature Introduces $80 Million Bill for Earthquake Early Warning System!!!

According to an SF Gate story published yesterday, California Legislators introduced a bill for $80 Million for that now famous Earthquake Early Warning System that you've all heard me talk about!!! Senator Alex Padilla, D-Los Angeles made the announcement yesterday at the California Institute of Technology saying they should have funding together by August and would rather have this system in place and operating BEFORE the next big California Earthquake. . . rather then after." It sounds like according to the story, that this Earthquake Early Warning System would be something of a Hybrid of the one that my good friend Professor Richard Allen of Berkeley Seismology demonstrated to me on my visit there in 2011 and you can read about here:

Of course Caltech, USGS, The California Integrated Seismic Network and plenty of other Earthquake Professionals will all be involved in getting this sort of a huge network thing up and running you know! If I may quote the article that I will CITE below: "The network now feeds an early warning system that is in beta testing, providing warnings to researchers." and if I had thought to take some photographs in Professor Allens Office I would have more pics to post here today, Here is His "ElarmS" Website: http://www.elarms.org/ Unfortunately I was in Major Earthquake mode on the day I visited his office at UC Berkeley, and my camera was just basically running full-time to record me being potentially buried alive in the Next Big California Earthquake!!! Which struck at 8:15 THAT NIGHT!!! It was 5.9 Coos Bay Oregon.

For an illustration they used a re-creation of the 1933 Long Beach 6.4 to show how a warning would go out to folks all over Southern California and mentioned, as you already know if you have been following me, that it squawked, and a voice alerts you out loud, "EARTHQUAKE, EARTHQUAKE, EARTHQUAKE!!!" Although one of the things that the system will still need is to be adapted for all of the latest electronic devices, as well as it might take some configuration to work off the GPS on your cellphone for notifying people on the move. The current system let's you know by your position. . . which could change from time to time as it does these days! Here is the link to the story I first seen on the SF Gate Website: http://www.sfgate.com/news/article/Proposal-would-create-Calif-quake-warning-system-4229931.php

So, California Folks might need to follow this story VERY CLOSE and it might yet be necessary to organize an effort to get the State Legislature and State Senate to keep this Bill moving towards the office of Governor Jerry Brown, ASAP!!!
Thank-You for Reading!!! EQ Guy
