In addition to that rather big 4.9 and it should be noted it was originally a huge massive shaking episode of three earthquakes totaled that rang my phone, there was also a notable 5.5 Mid-Indian Ocean about an hour prior, and 4.9 Offshore from Chile where two smaller tectonic plates meet and I immediately thought might mean something. Well, as happens in this here EQ Blog from time to time. . . I was right! Yes, still surprised at the size of this here Offshore Northern California shaker just the same, but you should have been there as I was trying to drive to work in the rain and my phone continuously rang, rang, rang with earthquake after earthquake and ALL THREE in Northern California and listing Ferndale as the nearest city.
As of this writing only a few felt reports have come in although Colfax, California at 449 Miles to the Southeast of that epicenter. . . but just now updating it has now also revealed the name of Sparks, Nevada and 559 Miles from that Ferndale, California Epicenter!!! Sure to be lots more felt reports coming in so I will update later on today probably after work and have to go right now to get a heading there! And driving in the rain, too! So, all of them tectonic plates that we know to be moving, ARE now moving and all that earthquake energy at Northern California could mean Southern California could shake next, or Frisco or anywhere with Alaska up there and only a matter of time for them. EQ Guy
