3.9 Richters South Of Long Beach Shakes ALL Of Southern California!!! WATCH That Area For MORE!!! And HAPPY NEW YEAR 2015!!! Update: 5.1 Northern California, Early January 1, 2015!!!

I want to take a moment to say Happy New Year!!!!! And add that my phone rang loudly at about 6:15am on New Years Day with a 5.1 Richters earthquake that struck Northern California near Eureka Offshore! Next I'm going to watch Tournament of Roses Parade from Pasadena and hope not interrupted by Major Earthquake!!! Happy New Years Day 2015!!! Now Yesterdays EQ Blog:

Several things that I need to mention about the 3.9 Richters earthquake that struck 13 miles to the south and Offshore from Long Beach, California. The first one is that there have now been several in that region between Catalina Island and the Long Beach area and also between Catalina Island and the Orange County area, too. The second thing that is right now concerning me is the names of the towns in the felt report from that earthquake, so here is the felt report from 3.9 Richters South of Long Beach, California at 3:26pm Pacific Time yesterday@ http://eqalert.blogspot.com/2014/12/39-richters-strikes-just-south-of-long.html

You can check that list of towns closely and it looks to me like this one basically just struck all the towns west of a line from Huntington Beach up to Glendale with NO towns out in Riverside or few in San Bernardino County along with a lot of towns in San Diego that have no felt reports, too. I was originally surprised when I did not see San Diego on the list, then I looked for La Jolla, Riverside, La Habra and none of those towns are on the list. It basically stops at Sunset Beach and even Fullerton should have showed up just based on the population in that area, but as of this writing none of them reported feeling this earthquake.

I'm guessing there is a fault line between Huntington Beach and Orange/San Diego County that also runs north between Whittier and San Bernardino-Riverside Counties, too. Next question: Is that whole entire tectonic plate going to be pushed off into the Pacific Ocean, because there IS a 3 mile deep drop-off out in that region somewhere and it could happen. Or rather, are all these other earthquakes in that region all together leading to a big earthquake around Long Beach such as the one that struck there in 1933, SEE More@ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1933_Long_Beach_earthquake AND is a giant tsunami possible?

For now let us all BEWARE. . . this Long Beach Earthquake could become some or all of the 5.7 to 6.0 we are watching for up around San Francisco, OR it could become some or all of the 7.7 or 8 Richters we are watching for around the Pacific Tectonic Plate!!! Long Beach and Catalina Island ARE situated along the Pacific, too!!!
