As this EQ Blog was going to press with the lead story about that Ripple Effect, I just happened to notice the name of the town Enterprise, Nevada on the list of latest earthquakes. Well, I'm very familiar with Nevada and know pretty much all the towns in that state. . . and routinely click on towns when I do not recognize the name just to see where exactly that earthquake struck. Could not believe when I found out it is like a suburb of Las Vegas and the epicenter of this 1.9 Richters Earthquake measured just over two miles from where the Las Vegas Strip ventures to the south past McCarran Airport there just south of the New York, New York and the Luxor!!! NO Felt Reports have been posted and at a tiny 1.9 it is possible there were no reports, although I have not completed figuring out what a 1.9 feels like if it shakes you out in California or Nevada. Possible it is too small for anybody who like most of those folks, are very used to a lot of shaking and therefore do not call in anything too much smaller than like a 3. Enough said, with my point here being the actual epicenter was almost the Rio Las Vegas situated out there on the end of that very famous town that I've heard nicknamed "Lost Wages"!!! 3700 West Flamingo Road and just a few miles south is where I found the town of Enterprise, Nevada! See that name on the pic next to the arrow. Of course some day there will be a real earthquake that shakes Las Vegas for real. . . but for today I just have the picture of what it will look like only bigger @
FINALLY, we also now seem to be getting a brand new series of possible swarm like earthquakes maybe the footprint of the Virginia City, Mammoth Lakes, Volcano Hawaii swarms that led up to it with Carlsberg Ridge Monday and Owen Fracture Zone on Tuesday. Leaves the possibility open for something to shake the East African Rift if I got that name right, or a healthy one for the United Arab Emirates, or Iran NEXT!!!
Noting that we have had snow melt and that had been the initial source of Major Earthquake Energy, I am trying to figure out if that sum total of major earthquake energy could possibly have left the North American Tectonic Plate and continued on possibly as one of those ripples that are occasionally connected to earthquake activity and regardless of snow melt, continued on like a tsunami would after a big earthquake. This will mean that like a bolt of lightening will continue on through whatever conduit it strikes for some time after the initial jolt, this potential earthquake could still strike Europe or any of those places. . . and I might even say WILL STRIKE so be watching for this to still be in the 5.9 to 7.6 Richters Range and it may still strike Africa, UAE, Iran, or Europe.
