The two medium sized earthquakes that struck at Texas today were located about 120 Miles North of Port Arthur, TX and a few more miles North of Galveston. While there were no reports of either of them being felt in Houston, there were numerous reports from a lot of other places such as 60 from Nacogdoches, 5 from Shreveport, and 21 from Timpson where the epicenter was reported as 2 Miles West Northwest of. I must note that there had been a landfall of a Tropical Depression Kong-Rey that might have been a downgraded typhoon at the South of Japan possibly being involved in this new earthquake energy because there was also a 2.5 just 14 Miles North West of Memphis, Tennessee. If so, we should continue to be watching for more and they could get just a little bit bigger, but not much.
The earthquakes continued up there in the Alaska Islands and I went ahead and updated the list to now include the very latest right up to this writing. Here is that updated List of Alaska Earthquakes: http://eqalert.blogspot.com/2013/08/heres-all-earthquakes-at-atka-alaska.html DO YOU THINK all of this Alaska Islands movement could BE the earthquake energy measured earlier at Marlborough, New Zealand at 5 Centimeters and Cook Strait at 8 Centimeters, where I then said "Easter Island" and Easter Island then got 3 Magnitude 5 Earthquakes in a row? Did those Alaska Islands now also just move 5 to 8 Centimeters, or collide as they say pushing 5 to 8 Centimeters over or under another tectonic plate up that way?
IF that was the case, then we still have the earthquake energy from the landfall of Super Typhoon Utor out there to watch all through September with Tuesday being Day 23. . . OR the day number when the Great Sumatra Earthquake struck after a similar landfall of Super Typhoon Nanmadol in December 2004.
Also the close brush with land of Tropical Storm Kiko at Baja California on September 1 possibly causing something to shake up in Southern California one of these days and finally Kong-Rey might send some earthquake energy over towards Queen Charlotte, and Vancouver Island, Victoria and Seattle Regions. Hope Everybody had a Great Labor Day Weekend!!! I got a lot of bike riding in!!! EQ Guy
