I've watched swarms such as the one that is currently happening up in the Old Faithful region of Yellowstone Park before and have to say it isn't always the ultimate location of a Major Earthquake when the region is ever all done shaking. Two that I can recall that are fresh in my memory are a Baja California Swarm and a Mettler Swarm. The Baja California Swarm happened just a few miles south of Mexicali/Calexico and came to precede the Eureka 2010 Earthquake and the Haiti Earthquake. That Mettler Swarm was located up near Bakersfield in 2005 and ended up preceding the Islamabad Earthquake and I know because I was tracking the potential earthquake energy from the landfall of Hurricane Katrina!
So, Katrina August 29, 2005, Mettler Swarm September 23, 2005, and Islamabad Earthquake October 8, 2005. Baja California Swarm December 30, 2009 through January 1, 2010, Eureka Earthquake January 9, 2010, and Haiti Earthquake January 12, 2010. Therefore landfall of Super Typhoon Utor August 11, Old Faithful, Yellowstone Swarm like September 4-11, 2013, and Ultimate Major Earthquake Resultant. . . . .well September 19, 2013 if there is to be any similarity with the landfall of Hurricane Katrina at Louisiana, and the landfall of Super Typhoon Utor at The Philippines.
Just as a precaution let me again remind all my readers that it does appear there is still that one source of major earthquake energy out there and while the date of September 19 did come up when compared to the Mettler Swarm of 2005, let us watch until then for something major to shake because as I said in recent EQ Blog Posts the next 3 days will be Day 31, 32, and 33 after that landfall.
